me and my girlfriend are great. we've been dating for 8 months and met in college. shes a JR and i just graduated.

me:

before we were together i was in a 3.5 year relationship, where marriage and the future were discussed quite frequently by my ex.then she ****ed me over and it led to a half year depression for me. luckily i met a girl whose so much better, prettier and more compatible in every way:D

her:

never had a relationship past 6 months, and 2/3 previous relationships ended with the guy cheating on her, which is crazy because shes a gorgeous 20 year old model & pre-med student.

-------

anyways.....

she always tells me how she knows im the one and no one has ever (or in her words "or will ever...) treat her as good as i do, and that shes certain of the future and one day marriage. she talks about "our apartment together in the next 5 years, our kids, dog, the whole white picket fence scene.

while this all seems fine and dandy, i cant help be reminded of the times when me and my ex-girlfriend would talk about our future together to each other (my ex, being the same way in her confidence of us lasting).:o

while im confident i finally found THE ONE, i trained myself during that depression to only worry about tomorrow and never really to get attached so deeply like that again to avoid being hurt like that.

my girlfriend gets upset when i hesitate about the future and knows its because of my ex.

--------------------

so now what?:(

i just don't know what to tell her sometimes. i cant express myself because its a contradiction either way.

can someone please help me understand this situation maybe in a different way, or give me any insight or advice on what to do or say?

Just go with the flow and enjoy your new budding relationship. With difficult questions, just give vague answers; close enough to what the girl wants to hear. Let her be the one deciding how this relationship goes eventhough you know clearly you're the one in control.
