I am currently single but when I did live with my ex husband He did the dishes, I cleaned the rest of the house, we took turns cooking and before his drunkeness got the best of him, he was an excellent helpful partner and no it never was an issue for us. Now when I didn't live with my ex BF (very recently my ex) of 2 years I went to his house and he came to mine but he came to mine daily I only went to his once in awhile. He lived with like 4 other guys so there house was not messy but not "clean" so I'd clean the house everytime I went over there. Just to do it, he'd be suprised but I enjoyed doing it, I keep my home (apartment) very very clean and no he never helped me nor did I ask him to. Clearly no it wasn't an issue in our relationship. What about you? Is this something that you're having a problem with?

No problem, I am just interested how other people work these things out and what they see as fair. My partner and I live together and share the housework pretty evenly. He likes vacuuming (?!) and takes out the rubbish, compost etc, mows the lawn. If I cook he washes up and visa-versa. We usually take it in turns to do things if it's easier that way. I feel lucky to have a man who is happy to get his hands dirty and do his bit - I do have friends that feel burdened by a need to fulfill the stereo-typical 'female' role. I'm sure this would differ in each country too, so I am interested how others view it.
