I was finally feeling a bit better and moving forward. He texted me this morning and it feels like a punch to the gut. He was so formal saying he hopes I've been wel and that he wants to pick up his stuff tomorrow when hes in the area.

I just feel so sad now. It feels so final. And the fact that he is just fine with seeing me and ending things for good....I expected him to just accept that he wasn't getting his stuff back just like I accepted I wouldn't get mine.

Would it be wrong to ask him to give me a heads up when hes near and then leave his things on the curb? (I live in a city apartment) I know seeing him would REALLY set me back. :(

No, it would not be wrong.

Better yet - TELL HIM that you have plans for the day but that his stuff will be left on the curb at [set a time that is convenient for YOU] and leave it at that.

Do not acknowledge any other texts or messages. Just advise him when his stuff will be outside and that you do not want to see him.

I agree with CarrieT.

Tell him he is welcomed to get his things back. Tell him you have plans for the day and what time you will be leaving it outside.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in the manner you're doing it.

Maiden, I went through the exact same thing recently almost to a t. What I suggest and what I did was to simply not reply. Do not give him the opportunity to again advertently or inadvertently hurt you with his words. I simply packed up her things and shipped them to her without replying. This way you maintain control and make it clear you want no contact with him.
