Dox Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I met this girl at a Halloween party last saturday. She was very flirty and she was so close to me that everyone thought that I was her boyfriend. The problem is she happens to be my good friends cousin and shes only 17 (18 next month) and I'm 20. Even though she was very flirty with me, I didn't reciprocate because of the age and the party was her sister's, so I didn't want to seem like a pedo and be disrespectful. But to be honest I was interested in her and if she was any random girl I would've pulled her that night. So anyway I got her number at the end of the night. Texted her the next night. Her last text was "you dont have to make excuses to ask me out, just ask and Id want to see you again too". I didn't reply to this, i realise shes 17 and my friends cousin. Anyway I've been trying to forget her but I cant stop thinking about her. Its been 3 days now and I texted her again asking if she was free friday night and its been a few hours now and she still hasn't responded. last time I texted her she replied instantly to my messages. What do you think girls is she mad?

Syn Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Any chance you can call her and ask her out that way? Also, depending on what state you're in, 20 and 17 isn't illegal. I know in my state if the person is 16-17 it's only illegal if you're 5 years or older than them. So you would have to be 22 for it to be a crime. Um, just so *I* don't sound like a pedo, I only know this because I dated someone a little older than me in Highschool and my parents made a stink about it.

Because she is 17 legally still a child & you are a 20 year old adult, I'd stay away until she turned 18. Even if it's not illegal (& you don't know that unless you have read the statutory rape statutes in your state) it still comes across as creepy. Her parents certainly aren't going to be thrilled. Before you open this can of worms, I give you 1 more thing to think about. You will be 21 shortly . . . bars & clubs etc. She won't be able to come. I promise it will cause huge drama in your life. Do you really want that?
