mercuryshadow Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Not sure where else post this... A friend of mine and his girlfriend just had a baby, very premature. I had planned on getting them something but since the baby has come somewhat dangerously early, what is appropriate at this point?
Midnight_Princess Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Premature baby clothes can sometimes be hard to find, im assuming they werent ecpecting a baby so early and probablu wouldnt have much so id try looking for some. Then a card and some flowers for the mother. 1

My mom kind of remembers "everything" and when I was born 2 months premature (3 lbs 13 oz) - she was pretty pissed that half the family didn't buy a gift...cause that was 1982 and preemies had a higher death rate. Anyway, she still to this day remembers who got a gift and who didn't. Even if the baby won't survive or even fit newborn clothes, I'd still get something for the little one. It's not that gifts are important or anything (at least to me), but it shows you have "faith" the child will make it- if that makes sense. 2

The Best gift you can give is acknowledge this child, be there for the parents...Its a challenge on them . My youngest was born a pre-mie...My friends had a blast buying back then (Cabbage patch premie clothes) - To this day I treasure the pictures taken....Can you get them a gift card to a local photographer? Maybe a small amount towards a photographer?
