glace10 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 It was my ex boyfriend's birthday yesterday and its been 3 months since we broke up and has never talked to each other whatsoever since then. So I decided to to greet him Me: Happy birthday! Hope you have a great one. Him: Hey thanks so much! Not the same without seeing you but ill manage. I already took a cupcake and silly string from so and so. i didnt reply until the next day as I was busy with school and stuff The next day.... Me: haha your birthday must have been fun Him: The cake i got this year isnt the same as yours, but its still good. Yours was better. Me: Sorry i couldnt make it on your birthday. Him: Its all good, i still appreciate the bday wishes So my question is, is this guy flirting with me/testing the water?
leafguy Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I wouldn't read much into it right now. All he is really saying is was different not having you there, maybe a bit hard, but he had his bday. Best advice would be to keep texting and you will eventually get a better read on him.
Fufu Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 At this meantime, I don't think it mean anything. He is just being friendly by replying to your sms.

I think she'd be better off holding back and seeing if he'll text her unprompted. She should not be chasing him. 1
Never Again Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I think she'd be better off holding back and seeing if he'll text her unprompted. She should not be chasing him. Agreed. If he was "testing" any waters...it was the waters of friendship and civility for now. Some dumpers will be respectful and hold back if they think they'll just upset their ex...but if he's got something real to say, he'll find a way to say it without her initiating.
StyleOnEm Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I think this might have potential. He extended the convo by offering something that was completely irrelevant -- that your cake tasted better than the current one. And that it's not the same without you. He might be playing it cool, with a potential for more down the line. I'd continue with small texts, then be the first one to end the convo -- pick it up a few days later, and see if he re-initiates by himself in the meantime.
