Tips for how to be successful when it comes to online dating?

I've made a POF account. I'm tall, handsome, smart, whatever else girls want. But it seems like the only girls who message me first are really ugly OR really weird. People I could never talk to IRL.

And the girls that i message first always sound so snobby. They always reply but they don't seem excited about it. I don't force conversations so i usually just stop talking to them at that point.

Could it be because i'm black? Seems like a lot of the black girls say they prefer white guys to...

And why exactly are shirtless pics frowned upon? A lot of girls have headlines that say "don't message me if you're shirtless" or something like that. But i don't get why... should i take down shirtless pics?

And should i lie about my height? I read somewhere that if you are over 6'3 you should list your height as 6'3 or below. And most of the girls i messaged brought up height.

Girls on POF get bombarded with messages 24/7, or at least I have been told. Therefore, they barely put any effort into their replies, I wouldn't take it personally. Give Okcupid a go, the girls seem decent on there.

As for topless pics, take them down. They're just cringe worthy and girls will think you're a dick.

As for lying about your height. This seems pretty pointless to me. If your serious about dating, then you're going to have to meet them at some point, so lying about your height is only going to cause issues later on.

I'm not that much taller then 6'3 so i doubt they would notice if i lied.

And what should i message them so that i stand out? I'm not really interested in getting to know them over text messages. I find it annoying.
