Hello out there! I’m just looking for advice and opinions on this situation involving a girl I recently started talking to.

So we met on Match. She had been checking out my profile and ‘liked’ one of my pics over the course of a week or so. She’s really cute and just my type, so I decided to message her. Our conversation was going really, really well and so after about a day of messaging back and forth I left her my number and asked if she wanted to meet up for drinks about 4 days out. Within 15-20 mins she actually calls me to confirm. We set a time and place to meet and then preceded in texting each other basically each day leading to the ‘meet-up.’

Now this is where I’m getting confusing mixed signals. She cancels on our first meet-up saying she has a midterm to study for. No big deal, I was very polite and agreed to reschedule for the following week. She sends a text saying, “I owe ya one : )”

The texting continues for a few days and she even sends me a few pics of her in her Halloween costume. And so the day of our rescheduled meet up I send her a confirmation text around noon saying “We still on for tonight?”

Dead silence. She was unresponsive and I never hear from her all day long. Needless to say, the meet up never happened and so later that night she texts me telling me that she just got back from school and her phone was shut off due to a late bill. She was very apologetic and said she has been very flustered with school and just didn’t think to message me after she had just told me days prior that she was completely free that night.

I was pretty upset, as I really liked this girl, but I didn’t let that show and acted like it was no big deal. I told her it was cool and left it at that. I decided to stop texting her and try to move on because to me it seemed like she was giving me a BS excuse.

A day or so goes by where we don’t talk to each other and then out of the blue she’ll randomly text me, “HI there!” or something similar and we’ll have a short conversation and then that’s it.

Should I keep pursuing this girl or should I just ignore her and move on? What could be the possible reasons for her behavior? For whatever reason I’m still very much attracted to her but I don’t want to come across as desperate or needy.

I should add that neither of us has texted each other in the past 2 days and I was thinking about reaching out to her.

Any advice on how to approach this? Thanks a bunch!

She's an insecure girl and does not want to come across as being mean and rejective. Also on match.com or any other online sites, she has many other men to choose from, so she might have picked another guy before the date and then of course liked him more than you do. Why bother with a potential G.I.G.S when you should be looking for the real deal, a woman who wants to be with you and date you not playing selfish games all for her own personal gains.

So true. I've had that problem in the past actually where a girl I was talking to online had met someone she liked better before our meet up. She at least flat out told me 10 mins before our meet. It sucks but I guess that's the world of online dating. I think it's obvious I should just forget about her. It's just weird that she would continue texting me after flaking twice...

A person like this, I would turn the tables on. She texts again, I would write back: "Thanks for thinking of me but, unfortunately, I met a girl I really like and want to pursue things with her. Take care."

Let her know she isn't worth your time and there are BETTER options for you.

Haha thought about that one actually. If she texts again I'll probably just ignore it. Not worth the energy, time, and confusion.

Yeah you dont want to come across as needy at all.

I'd send her 1 more text saying "Youve been busy lately, anytime you want to, hang out and have some fun, call me" -

Then I would totally forget about her and check out other women
