I had a Sunday brunch date scheduled with a woman in another city about an hour away. She texted me the day before to say she had to cancel because she had company the weekend before and the place was still a mess and she had to clean up!!.....ouch! So after tossing her number in the trash, I thought, that was a really lame excuse! Thus the question to all, what was the worst excuse you received from someone for canceling a date??....This should be fun!!

Almost ten years ago, I had started to casually date this guy who lived in my town. I wasn't really smitten with him because he had some habits that I could not put up with in a relationship, but I saw it as casual and he was still fun to hang out with, so I kept seeing him. It slowly came to light that he was trying to get over his ex girlfriend. He had asked me to dinner and a movie (something we'd done a few times before) and then cancelled the morning of, stating that he wanted to "spend time with his dog". I was a little bit hurt, but soon came to understand that he had actually gotten back with his ex.

Ouch. People flaking on dates (especially when it seems promising) is hurtful. A couple months ago I was supposed to meet up with this girl I really liked at a concert. We talked for a week leading up and I even bought my ticket ahead of time (big mistake). I was so excited and my roommate was also very excited for me because it was so hard for me to meet anyone.

So it's the eve of my birthday and she texts me about buying me drinks to celebrate and yadda yadda yadda. So I'm getting myself ready that night when all of a sudden I get a text from her saying that she was sorry but she was now going to the concert with another guy that she really liked. I was shocked!!

So in order of trying to save herself and not look bad she offers up her less attractive friend and tells me she wants us to meet. WTF?

I was so embarrassed and couldn't even tell my roommate what happened. So I literally went to the park that night by myself to kill the time. One of the worst experiences I've had dating so far.

While on a 1st date (OLD) my date received a phone call and told me she had to leave because her mom had to take her dog to the vet for an emergency!

I don't think I ever properly apologized to you for that. I'm so sorry. (The dog died, BTW. :()

Had a date planned with a girl for a river of lights type of thing at our local biopark. Literally as I am on map quest getting ready to pick her up she texted me saying she had a migraine and could not go. Never buy any type of tickets in advance for someone you barely met!.lesson learned
