Is "second chance" really euphemistic for "giving in to dysfunction"?

Just wondering what peoples' thoughts are....

Second chances can only be successful if both people have worked on themselves and the issues they brought to the previous relationship. Then both people must be willing to let the past go and not bring any of the past hurts and regrets into the new relationship.

 

But that's what you get, a new relationship. A second chance at the old relationship will just lead to failing in the same way. The old relationship failed for a reason, and only a new relationship without those failures can succeed.

 

So yes, second chances pretty much are giving into the failure either for a short time until your patience runs out and the prior issues bother you again, or permanently dealing with them and not being fully satisified.
