Hi all, my name is Frank and I am new here. Recently my friend just got me a new job, and he likes to go out on Fridays and party to all hours of the night. Since he got me the job I feel like I am obligated to go out every Friday. I don't mind going out but not all hours of the night. I don't want him to feel like why did I get him the job if he can't even go out all night. Probably a stupid thing to think, but just looking for some advice on how to deal with this type of situation.

Best regards

Frank

I do this all the time.

Just go out have fun - Its actually healthy.

Then tell him that you have to leave. Surely your friend knows that you have a life for yourself. Just shake his hand and say "My bed is calling me bro" or something like that... No biggie

I mean ya that sounds like a good idea. But I can't say that every week you know.

Sure you can.

Do you really think your friend expects you to stay out with him all night every Friday just because he helped you get a job? Has he ever said or done anything to give you that impression?

Does your job have anything at all to do with hitting the clubs? Are you expected to network or something?

Frank- Welcome to the forum!

You are under no obligation. You earned the job thru your skills.

Plan your "off" time as you please. I'm an advocate in varying your weekend plans. Sometimes just chillin, sometimes working on a community project. Sometimes taking family out for dinners. Going to a concert, Working on home repairs....So many things to do on ones time off. Surely a barfly is not beneficial in the long run. Things in moderation will produce better results.....Meet up maybe once a month ...this way it shows your time is valuable and you made a kind exception to hang out.

Thank you for the help. I did get the job because of my skills because I did the interview not him, he just got me in the door :-)
