Well an interesting thing happened over the weekend. I have had a very interesting past few weeks (in the dating and attraction department).

I was joking with a friend that my pheromones must be really on at the moment.

So I have gone out with this guy a couple of times. Good chemistry. Lots of making out, heavy petting.

The other day he sent me a text. Well a series of texts. It was really a poem he wrote.

I'll paraphrase the poem for you, the real one would make me feel like *blushing.*

"I think you are the full package, now that I found you, I want to keep you. And in order to keep you, I'm working all day, and night to show you my appreciation [in and outside of the bedroom]."

It was more like a combo love letter/erotic story.

So 'fess up have you ever written or received a poem?

Before we married, my wife and I wrote to each other quite a bit. This was before internet, email, text messages, etc. (You can find the complete story on this Forum if you look through my old posts.) She thought some passages in my letters had an artistic quality to them. I'll admit that I let my writing be somewhat freeform, expressive and imaginative (perhaps just as a break from the structured and formal writing I had to do for school at that time) but I wasn't trying to do "Creative writing" per se. I think everything I wrote was prose; the only time I recall a specific attempt to be poetic came when we were apart for a couple weeks after we had been married for 7 or 8 years. It wasn't even especially personal - certainly not anything to make a normal person blush.

It sounds like your guy may have created his composition more on a whim rather than a serious attempt at poetry - but that's still rather flattering to you, and probably gives you some private insight into his personality. Don't dismiss the gesture to quickly.

You should probably take a look at the recent thread "Do you ever get poems from men?" at http://www.loveshack.org/forums/romantic/dating/430888-do-you-ever-get-poems-men .

Well, when I was on a submarine, and was missing my wife like crazy, I would write her the most sentimental letters and poetry ever in the history of writing. She still has them all in a hatbox. She wonders why she can't get it out of me when I am home, but I think it was because the long deployments and not getting to talk to her for months at a time. Maudlin, romantic and extremely dirty. She says she doesn't need porn...she just reads my old sub letters. I can turn quite the phrase when miserable and horny apparently.

Blushingly,

Grumps
