I was bummed for about 2 weeks and then a part of me just wanted to get past it and be friends. He's truly a great guy despite everything we have gone through. We hang out from time to time. But I want to start dating again. I went on a few dates after he broke up with me when we were not back to being friends. He tells me that he doesn't want to be around when I find a new guy. It just makes me extremely sad that he would just drop our friendship like that. Then I thought if I find a new guy, will he be ok with the fact I am friends with my ex? I don't call him my ex anymore, I call him my friend but we do have that history. He was also my first love. Is it ok to still be friends with my ex and start dating?
