Hi guys...

So pretty much, it was my bday weekend last weekend... my closest girlfriend and i planned to go out and have a night out.

Everything was fine with us and a couple of days before, I messaged her to sort out which club we all should go to and she hits me back saying she can't make it cause she felt a little bit sick the previous day and has no money and said she only just found out she gets paid 2 weeks from now.

the weird thing is she already told me a week before about when she gets paid and it didn't seem to be a problem. so i said that to her and just told her i wasn't mad just a bit sad she couldnt make it and i hope she feels better. she never replied... and for my bday i get a short two word text saying "happy birthday" and that's it... haven't heard from her at all since. which isn't really like her... we always talk.

i just feel like, i've done so much for this girl in the past and money shouldnt have been an issue as she knows i always pay for things if she needs help. i've gone out sick as a dog just so i wouldnt miss my friends bday so im not sure why she's suddenly acting kind of cold and impersonal?

what would u guys do? i dont really want to message her again because i haven't done anything to her. but i have no idea if she's suddenly got a problem with me or if she's just an inconsiderate person? or am i just being sensitive? i'd prefer people to be straight up with me if they have a problem instead of sitting around wondering!

Maybe she feels bad she can't afford to take you out for your birthday? This way she gets out of an uncomfortable situation. Maybe give it time and see if she contacts you. And if she does, then you can tell her that you felt sad she didn't go out with you to celebrate your birthday. Maybe then she will have an answer on why she did what she did.

I don't necessarily think she is being inconsiderate. Or that you are being sensitive. I think you need to find out more about why she is doing this but you may need to wait a little bit before she is upfront and honest about it. I'm sure you'll find your answer.

Call her and ask how she's feeling. No texting.

I imagine you didn't get to be closest girlfriends overnight so IMO this one small incident, in the totality of your relationship, shouldn't be more than what it is, one small incident.

She sent you a happy BD text on your BD. Go with that. If the phone interaction doesn't end positively (do your part), then move on for now.

hi thanks for the reply :)

yeah true.. i am giving it some time... but she knows that i never expect my friends to pay for me on my birthday, let alone at anytime... all i wanted was her company :(

i guess i'm just mostly confused because of the incredibly short notice that only happened when i messaged her first.. and she's been acting distant for no reason since. we usually talk a lot most days so i guess for her to send such a short and impersonal text on my bday is out of character for her and it feels like not hearing from her since that she may have some issue that i'm unaware of :/

i dont have many girl friends, mostly friends with guys so i guess i'm not used to this kind of stuff!

oh and true i would call her but the last message i sent her was about letting me know which days she wants me to take off work which i have to do soon so we can book our new years plans but she never replied..... so i think i might feel stupid chasing her up if it seems like she's avoiding me?? i have no idea!
