How do you deal with dreaming about your ex?

In the past few weeks I've had 4 dreams about her. I don't usually dream that often but on these occasions have woken up feeling a bit low. I've gone back to sleep again but have remembered.

The dreams from what I can remember, one was about getting back together, one was I thought I was meeting up with her only to see her and her new bf and the last one I can remember was our gardens were next to each other and when I bumped into her, thought she would be angry so immediately said don't worry I'm leaving before anything was said, to which she was calm and wasn't going to kick off, so then asked her how she was.

Usually I don't remember dreams, but that's the most I do remember. I'm clearly not as over her as I thought. I know it's over, she's moved on and I'm not in any contact with her at all. Although it was only a short relationship, it was only my second relationship ever and I'm in my early thirties so it meant a lot to me.

I'm in control when I'm awake but clearly when I'm asleep it's anyone's game :)

Anyone else had dreams about their ex's?

I do sometimes and really hate it. Usually if I have been thinking about him a lot at night I will dream about him. My last one we were back together and he was being wonderful.

Dreams are annoying.

Months ago I had a dream about my ex for four consecutive nights. That entire week was torture to say the least. It's mostly your subconscious tapping into your dreams and trying to construct images of all the mixed emotions you are currently experiencing. I understand how debilitating they can be but you must try your hardest to never over analyze them and reroute your thoughts to things that actually matter. Keep moving forward and know that you are the most important person from this point forward.

I've been having dreams all week...

simple dreams really... it'll start out like any other normal random dream, but then suddenly he's there, he walks up and hugs me, and I suddenly feel that everything's alright.

Then I wake up and my heart drops to my stomach.

I had a dream about my ex just once - it messed up my day but then it was back to normal the next day and life went on.

About 4 or months after the BU I started to have them quite often. Some were fun and some were painful. I did not remember all of them but I would would remember that they usually woke me up in the AM. There is really nothing you can do about it. It's just your brain processing when you are in your most relaxed state.

The good news is they will stop for the most part. I've had maybe 1 that I remember in the last 2 or 3 months.

As you heal and come to accept everything that has happened the dreams will also cease. Just give it time and accept that you are still processing .

I went thru all of this also.

I feel and think, you dream of the last thing you think of before going to sleep.

Honestly I changed my thoughts before bed, thought about work the next day, fell asleep to sports center whatever, it seemed to make a difference .

Give it a try.

I had dreams we got back together, dreams we were hanging out and a really weird one where she tried to run me over with her car....regardless of the dream, I missed her terribly the next day when I woke up.

It seems like I have dreamed about her every night for the past 6 weeks. I have dreamt it all. I have dreamt of her like we were still together. I have dreamt of losing her all over again. I have dreamt of her coming back. I have dreamt of being around her and her new guy.

But last night I didn't dream of her. I dreamt I met someone new.

Its just sucks to know that your dream isn't coming true. What i always do is to do something i like and at the end of the day i will feel better that they are no longer being together with us, but the memories will always stay with us.

I hate dreaming about her! The dreams are always so good. She came back, she was so wonderful to me. She`d do anything for me. The you become aware its a bloody dream. You wake up and feel so empty. I never have a dream where i am the one in control and i am rejecting her. Now that would be a dream!
