mike78207 Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 What is the best thing to do to shape the butt??
Artifact Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 lay on your stomach and lift your legs off the ground, one at a time, until you want to cry. You can alternate this with crossing your legs (lying on your stomach still) if you really want to hurt.
Lonestar Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 Squats and lunges work real well. I use a squatting machine at the gym and then do my cardio on something called an Arc Trainer. The way it's designed really hits the butt area and you can set the resistance as high as you want. Here's another good at home exercise. I hope I can visually explain it right. Lie on your back with a small step in front of you (find something maybe two inches off the ground). Place one foot flat on that with your knee up. Put the other leg straight up in the air. Raise your butt up and down with the one leg. Do three sets of 15-20 and then repeat on the other leg.
tiki Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 I'll give you half of mine and we'll call it even.

LucreziaBorgia Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 One really good butt exercise I got from Denise Austin is this: Lay on your back with your knees bent and your arms on the floor beside you for balance. Cross one leg over the other and rest that heel on the knee of your opposite leg. Then slowly lift your backend off the floor with the foot that is still on the floor. Use slow fluid movements, up and hold then down - you want to use strength, not inertia. Make sure that your foot rests on that knee lightly and doesn't press into it. You want to make sure you feel your glutes working in this exercise, and keep your abs tight. I usually do 2-3 sets of eight on each side. It will make your butt very sore, but it is well worth it to target and tone those muscle groups.
