I have no idea where else to post this...

I'd been w/my job 10 years and took a transfer opportunity (that started this past week) with the same company to a completely new department. The job is vastly different than what I was doing before (outreach/community interaction versus a 100% inside desk job). I thought I would like a desk job, but I think I made a mistake, and I don't know that the company would allow me to transfer again so soon. Is this just first week settling in? If I think I made a mistake is it best to correct it now or wait? The training in this new position lasts 6 months and my old job isn't available now - I could go back to my old position, but it would be in a different location than where I was before. I just don't know if they would look favorably upon me changing my mind so soon :-( Any advice??

Give it some time. You might like it after a few months.

If the job is different than was represented to you when you took it, talk to your manager/supervisor and explain what you thought the job would entail and see what he/she says.
