So I've been on OKC for about 2 months now without much success and quite frankly, I'm pretty burnt out by it so I've just decided to disable it for a while. Too many girls on there who have unrealistic expectations, are very flaky, or just seeking an ego-boost through the attention of tons of guys. For those of who have tried speed dating, how does it compare to to say...OKC or POF? Do you frequently meet the same kind of undesirables or are they more real and grounded?

I tried it once. Met lots of weirdos, a few decent ones. Connected with one and dated him for about a month before he flaked & disappeared.

It was an interesting experience! I had fun (went with a couple friends, one male and one female) and I wouldn't be opposed to trying it again. The biggest issue was that I was at the very bottom of the 20-year age range, so a lot of the guys were simply way too old for me.

I am totally done with OLD. Nothing but flakes and guys that are basically undateable. People, including me, have unrealistic expectations. I've never tried speed dating but the fact its a very short meet and greet I can imagine this could be more successful. Plus people online can lie and totally misrepresent themselves.

yeah, this is true, but can' t that happen IRL too??

I've met guys I liked on OLD, even if they were few and far between, whereas the three/four times I've done speed dating, I liked no men.

I don't think I'll ever speed date again.

Yeah, but you figure it'd be a lot easier to lie behind a computer screen vs IRL, no?

What was it about them that you didn't like? Lack of physical attraction? Or was it something else?

I did speed dating once. It's not a big thing in my area so the selection of men was kinda meh.

I'm actually dating a man I met from OLD right now, it's looking quite promising. Sure I had to filter through douchebags and weirdos but this guy has been totally worth it so far.

Every time I heard a situation where speed dating happened.

Women outnumbered the men by a landslide and if it was a 50/50 count, most all the women were fixated on only 1 or 2 of the guys of the event and nothing more.

Most women don't even take it seriously, in fact some women with boyfriends have been known to show up at these things just because they were "curious" or having a little "fun".

Let me ask a question:

How exactly do you even discover speed dating services that aren't some kind of criminal ponzi scheme? Because I think that might be an interesting experience.
