flsgirl Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Hi everyone, I have a question about the rules of gift giving regarding dating someone new. I very recently started seeing someone. Things are going really well. We began seeing each other at the beginning of November. I'm a little stumped about Christmas presents. I know he got me something. I have no clue what you're suppose to get someone you're dating (meaning he's not my boyfriend). I don't want to get him something that's expensive or mushy or anything else that could potentially freak him out, but I don't want the gift to be too impersonal either. Does anyone have any ideas that could help me out?
tattoomytoe Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 dvd, cd..... know of any movies he likes? or even a gift cerificate to best buy, or some music/ video store, oohh....or get him a blockbuster card....then he will have no excuse for a date cause y'all can rent movies! that one is a good one!
tiki Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Yeah get him a gift certificate so he can spend it on you too. Restaurants are good for that too! Of course it wuld royally SUCK if he took another woman out with your gift certificate gift.
Merin Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Hmm.. a new CD or DVD.. not horribly expensive. Or gift certificate.. they've got them for practically everything now.. Starbucks if he's a coffee' drinker, Block Buster if he likes movies, Barnes and Nobel etc..
Anais Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Candles, bath bubbles, chocolate, wine glasses for two...

Anais Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 Originally posted by flsgirl someone you're dating (meaning he's not my boyfriend). Those romantic small things may let him know that you want him to be your boyfriend. I gave my now husband a box of chocolate on his birthday. It was our second date. The box was so nice, from metal that he kept it! (and i just got a small friendly fight with him about it. Have a pms )
tiki Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 So your b/f would like the bubble bath and candles too?
Anais Posted December 3, 2004 Posted December 3, 2004 I had candle for my first husband on first Christmas. He kept it till we divorced. DOn't know what happened later. He said he loved the idea. But in my country we don't have tradition of big gifts for Christmas ...here in US is different. Let my ask hubbie what he thinks about bubbles. he is online.
