seahawker64 Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 OK ladies, I have a serious question and I need the female perspective. I'm 48 years old, in pretty decent shape, not overweight with big belly hanging over my belt however I have thinning hair and a decent sized bald spot in back. I'm thinking and thinking and thinking about just shaving it off and being done with it. Not 100% bald but think maybe "Jason Statham" styled shaving cut. Basically giving my head the 5 o'clock shadow look. I was wondering what the general feeling from Women is about a man with a shaved head? There have been studies done in which supposedly Women find you more masculine and dominant with a shaved head while at the same time finding it less physically attractive. I have also read and been told as well that on a older guy like me, it will probably knock 5 to 10 years off my age and make me look far younger. So really looking forward to your opinions. What do you all think?
TheBladeRunner Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Do it! I have that problem up on top and have been keeping my head shaved with a #1 guard for years. Some may love it, some may hate it, but it looks waaaaaaay better than trying to grow hair when you're losing it. JMO. Also, the woman of your dreams will like you for who you are, hair or not! Good luck! 2
Bubberfly Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I've never cared about a guy losing a little on top (and I'm young. I'm more interested in the confidence a man exudes. If you shaving your head gives you a confidence boost, go for it! 1

Good luck! I got my hair cut tonite and I was talking to my the Woman that cuts my hair and she used a number #2 on the top. I was looking at it and mentioned I was thinking about shaving the whole mess and she suggested a #1 as well. I think it's coming soon. Question though, do you have to wear a hat in the winter to keep your melon warm or is it no big deal. I live in the Pacific NW and it's already getting pretty brutal here as far as the cold winds off the ocean from Alaska. Just curious.
Carenth Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I keep my hair pretty short #4 on top #2 on sides only started doing it recently but I like it a lot. My hair on top is thinning a bit so I decided I would rather keep it short than wait for what is coming and having a ridiculous come over thing. If it's anything like my dad i'll be bald on top by the time I'm 40.. sigh oh well. 1
kassy Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 As a woman whose boyfriend just went through this 'dilemma' to for it. He loves it and has a little more spring in his already springy step, and I think it's pretty sexy for how it looks and how it makes him feel 1

In ok shape also. #2 on the side 2 1/2 on the top just to give it shape. Soon as I went super short I got a lot of compliments. I like it. Havn't really noticed it being a problem with the women. However you need certain looks to pull the fully shaved thing. Many guys just don't have the melon for it. I think at 40+ being in shape is the most important thing. crederer Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 (edited) I'm a guy but my hair is thinning out a bit. No bald spots but a lot thinner than it was a few years back. I dunno if I'd completely bic it, but considering a a 1 or 2 buzz cut. Also considering getting some medication my doctor says will most definately prevent further thinning, and more than likely thick the hair out a bit over time, but but I'm worried about the side effects (about 8% of men become impotent and 2% remain impotent even after quitting the meds and holy hell, I'd rather be bald than not be able to sex it up). The way my luck is I'll be part of the 2% Edited October 9, 2013 by crederer 1
acrosstheuniverse Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Some men suit it, and some don't. It depends on your face, the shape of your head etc. as to whether you'll rock a shaved head or not. Personally I've always preferred men with some hair, I couldn't give a toss if he is thinning on top or has a bit of a bald spot, though, I even find hairstyles with that happening more attractive than a shaved/bald head. My current boyfriend has longer hair than me (down to his chest) and I've always had a thing for guys with long hair. 1
bbcaptcha Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 As lady I encourage you. Yes I find men with shaved head more masculine than others, but well the behavior has an important role in that as well 1

I remember the hugh lawsuit against the one company shortly after it came out. It really screwed some guys up. I would rather lose all the hair I have than risk those side effects. Really think about that one.
Author seahawker64 Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 I guess you'll join the other 5,000,000,000,000,000 bald/shaved guys walking around who think we don't know that you shaved your head to hide that you're bald/balding. Trust me, we know. I find bald/balding hideously unattractive but most women don't, so you're good to go. That leaves the guys with full heads of hair all for me...woo hoo! No, you don't know. I have a couple of buddies with full heads of hair that shave it on purpose because one likes the no maintenance and the other just thinks he looks better without his curly red hair. your generalized statement that you Women all know guys shave their heads because they are balding is way wrong. Not in every case of course but that's pretty broad speculation.
