I met this girl two weeks ago. I talked to her for about ten minutes, she kind of looked like a young Tammy Wynette and we seemed to have nice conversation, so I asked for her number. Last week I call her up and we hang out at DQ with one of her friends, again good conversation. They were going to go to some kind of party and they invited me to go but I had to get ready for work.

I let a few day go by and I call her up and we talk maybe a half an hour and I set up a mall date for Saturday. I have to drive 25 miles to pick her up and then about 70 miles to the mall. About halfway to the mall she didn't have anything else to say. I should've just turned around at the nearest exit, but nope I drove on. I kept trying to make conversation but it was pointless. We walk around the mall and I just tried to enjoy or least humor myself. I kept thinking how could I be so wrong? I could clearly tell the date wasn't going anywhere and made excuse that I had to be at work soon. The drive back was the worst, 70 miles back to her place, neither one us said a word. It seemed like it took hours.

I should've done an easier date like the movies, too much driving for nothing.

I just can't figure out why I thought we had something in common or good conversation, it was like she was a different person. Anyhow there is no way I would even consider a second date. Anyone have any dates that are comparable or maybe even worse than what I described?

Yikes! This is why you keep dates simple, like coffee or lunch :)

I haven't had any bad dates, yet.

It sounds like you should have limited your first date to just getting coffee. Yours don't sound all that bad for what it was though. I used to date guys I met off of the internet so I had a few odd ones. There was one guy I went to the movies with who just mumbled "I get you" over and over again to anything I said. If I asked a question, he'd mumble a response. But otherwise he wouldn't say anything else. I have social phobia so I can relate to not always knowing what to say, but you would think he could at least think of something more to say for at least part of the time. He was actually a really hot guy. I just couldn't tell if he had a personality.

Maybe this will make you feel better...

One weekend I'm out with this girl - we had known each for a couple of months and I was falling for her. It was such a nice night out I thought she could be the one. The next day we're out and I discover she's a trash bag getting it on with multiple guys around town.

Talk about feeling like a fool.
