Betterthanthis13 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Does anyone have any stories/ insights/ thoughts on couples who started out as friends, were just friends for a very long time, and then changed their relationship into something more?
Shepp Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I was friends with my gf for what, 4 1/2 years, before we got together a bit ago. i'm sure I've talked about me and her far too much already on here so I wont put bore everyone with that again But yeah, I definitely think there are advantages od being friends first, especially when your young - you just grow up together don't you. I think you can maybe understand people a bit better as well when you know what makes them tick so well.

What made you decide to be just friends in the first place, and which one of you instigated the change?
Shepp Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 What made you decide to be just friends in the first place Her freaking out about being anything more! Nah she's a wicked girl, I did always want to be more than friends but she didn't and I still liked hanging out with her even if it was just as mates. She, us being friends was important to her, she lost her mum, her relationship with her dad was bad, we were close and she felt dating was too bigger risk. Which I don't believe, but understood, so I was cool with doing the friends thing. and which one of you instigated the change? Well she was a flirt but I would still have to say me...it was always me pushing it - took me monthsss!

Very cute story. I'm happy for you! My situation is a bit different because it's been, oh I dunno... 15 years? We always both liked each other I think, but avoided the topic like the plague. It may have been me, I don't really know... Now I have brought it up and I get the feeling he is interested but is being very vague. He hasn't said no though, so I guess time will tell. I recently broke up with someone who was VERY bad for me, so I think he thinks I am just being a bit crazy after having such a bad experience, but it's not that at all.

Maybe you just need to prove it too him! Tell you what someone, cant remember who, said to me once, he said something like ' Alfie you want to prove to her your not going anywhere? Then you put your hands behind your head, you sit back, put your feet up, and you don't go anywhere!' Edited October 2, 2013 by Shepp 1
