confusing scenario...

I'm just off the phone to my girlfriend, and she's been telling me that she's confused. She says that she loves me, yet she doesn't want to. This confuses me because she said the only person that she really loved (her grandfather) had something bad happen to him. And now, she says she loves me, yet she doesn't want to because she's scared in case something bad's going to happen. She also questioned why I wanted to go out with her, even though she said she was a "bitch" and that "she was not worth going out with"... She also said she wanted to distance herself and be on her own. But at the end of the phone call I asked her if she did love me, and she said "I love you.."

(She's my first love, and I'm her first love... and we're both teenagers)

I openly express how much I love her and care for her, too.

I'm scared about splitting up with her.

Comments are always appreciated.

It sounds like she cares about you and maybe even loves you - but doesn't want to date you right now for whatever reason. It sounds like she has some problems with insecurity, or some problems in general that could be helped more by you being there for her as a friend and not as a boyfriend. It seems she is trying to let you down easy without giving you up completely. There's nothing that says you can't continue to be there for her though as a friend, should you split up. Maybe she'll get her head together and you two can date later on after you've built a solid base and trust as friends.
