irc333 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 For a good while, I didn't have any kind of texting service, just cell phone service...now that I have texting, I'm realizing how much of a hinderance it can be. Now it's about texting before calling to see if they can talk on the phone first. lol
carhill Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Can see how texting can make things impersonal I think that's one reason I keep buying batteries for my old flip phone and keeping basic cell phone service. I look around every day and see people's heads buried in their smart phones wherever I go and make a conscious decision to live life in contravention to social norms, consistent with the social anarchist I am. Generally, people don't care. That's instructive, and a quite peaceful place to be. I can't imagine pursuing a lady's favor through banging on a keyboard, where far more intimate and personal and tactile methods for pursuing that favor exist. If anything, such impersonal methods as texting separate people rather than bringing them together. To me, it's the difference between banging out a word document to send in a condolence card versus putting pen to paper and letting one's pen strokes convey their emotions, or better yet, being there in person and giving the person a hug and a kind word. That's personal. Good luck.
