theedge Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Just a question to Loveshackers I have recently met an amazing woman from online, we have been together over 2 months and things are going great! I have to admit so far she is everything I wanted in a woman. My question arises from a situation when she was at my house. We came to the computer to look up stuff and instantly I realized I still had loveshack.org in my history and also didn't log out. To be perfectly honest this site is used for my personal thoughts and also a support network when I want to know how common relationship problems are. When we sat down, of course I didn't want her to see the site listing in the history, so I stupidly cleared the history and cookies with her sitting beside me. I am positive red flags went off in her head. She probably assumed I was clearing A) dating sites B) porn sites or anything else I would want to keep secret from her. As soon as I did it she said "Whatcha doin? I knew she said it because she thought I had something to hide. I said that if I didn't clear the history and cashe my internet would go slow. So I ask you all, do you hide this site from your S/O? I know the way I did it came across as very guilty. I know if she saw the name Loveshack.org would instantly think its a dating site. Have you ever had to explain this site when they found it? Sites like this can be a risk because it is your thoughts and sometimes comments can be misunderstood or come across as harsh, or even past you don't want them knowing. I would love to hear all your opinions, so come on loveshackers speak out!

GirlDown Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 my boyfriend knows i'm here sometimes. he kind of questions why and sometimes hints around at why i don't like him to see it or know my nickname. he doesn't try to find out;actually as far as i know, he's never bothered to get on this site at all, but he is aware that i do. the only reason i would be uncomfortable with it is because i feel like it's private. and things i say to people aren't necessarily what i would do for myself, but reflect the others' personal situations. and for example, if someone asked about cheating, and i said "i cheated on a past boyfriend and this is what happened..." i wouldn't necessarily want to to share these details with him. he might know i cheated, but why have to get into a long conversation about it with him? it would be relevant to the person i was responding to, but not to my relationship with my boyfriend. it would just be opening a whole unecessary can of worms.

I talk about previous experiences and current relationships here at the LS so I really treat it like an online journal. My last girlfriend didn't know that I posted here since I don't usually leave tabs open when I'm not at the computer.

I do not feel like he should know what I have to say, I come here for advice about our situations we deal with. He doesn't mind though. I think.....

Lots less controversial than what she's imaginging I'm sure. Course I might be more careful what I posted after that...depends on her. jackie.
