mtnbiker3000 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 with the occasional trip to the local restaurant bar for some sports on TV and chat with a live human being(s). This has become my life Just wish there were more people to meet and things to do. Tried Meetup. Really only one group in town. Meh, it sucked. Small town, breakup blues. At least I'm gettin' in pretty good shape
BigGirlPantiesOn Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Ever try donating your time to charity? YMCA...kids in crisis...reading to the blind...lots of opportunity to help others. Fulfills your time and your heart. very therapeutic. 3
reddragon588 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Meetup has helped me, but it did take time before I found a group that I got along with. Try going on a vacation if possible. Doesn't have to be far or expensive but getting out of town helps.

Yeah, I was volunteering at the library as a tech in the computer lab for a few months, but had scheduling conflicts. Maybe have to try some more volunteering in the near future...

Yeah, about once a month I head back down to home (Bay Area), but even that starts to get expensive with gas and all. I dunno, I guess I am mostly just complaining/venting
Simon Phoenix Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Any way to move to a bigger town with more social options? 1
Brown-Eyez Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Yeah your existence sucks right now, I totally get it I've been there, most of the summer in fact. The one thing that comforts me through this incredibly shi##ty time, is that 'nothing lasts forever' even shi##ty times! so go to a 'retirement community' and offer to teach some oldie how to use a computer: the best thing during these times is feeling as if you are still useful and/or START your own meetup group 2
Author mtnbiker3000 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 Any way to move to a bigger town with more social options? That is my #1 goal!!! This town suuuuucks!!! Ex can have it 1
lovelylilly Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I feel the same way! I just joined a meet up group to go hiking this Saturday, a bit nervous because I'm going by myself. I need more friends, I only have a handful in my city because I lived abroad the past three years. Came home in March and all my friends are couch potatoes with kids and 2 jobs. blehhhhhhh! I also quit my gym and going to join another one. I was with the YMCA and I'm hoping to join one with younger/more social people. Hang in there; it sucks, but everyone keeps telling me it will get better. Must be some truth in that .
