Queen B Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Lots of people don't have cars...they live in the city where public transportation is cheap and parking is expensive or alternatively they prefer to spend their money on other things. like vacations etc, etc. I'm n my 20's and I've dated guys without cars before (some in their 30's) and honestly I never thought of not having a car as one of those detestable qualities in a man...I'm looking for more important things. As for first dates I always prefer to meet a guy someplace as then I wasn't letting a total strange know where I live...
Scarlett_girl Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 depends who you ask..i've date guys with cars and guys without..dues with cars are cool cuz it's more convieninet but..but a guy with a car is not really what i care most about in a guy!!
zilverenvlinder Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Cars are a necessity if you live in a rural area, like I do. I mean, who REALLY wants to pick up their boyfriend on every date?
reservoirdog1 Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Hey joel... I'm a fellow Vancouverite, so here's a suggestion: car sharing. Don't know if I'm allowed to recommend a specific service on this board, so go to the most popular search engine (you know the one) and type in "car share vancouver". Click on the first link in the result list. Once there, scroll down to "Vancouver, B.C." and click on that link. Bingo. I've been using the service for a few months and I've had few problems having a car when I need one. Pretty reasonably priced too, especially if you're only using it occasionally.
SoleMate Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Yes, you can date without a car. Meet her somewhere, or arrange to pick her up via bus, bicycle, ferry, what have you. Old fashioned girls do not demand transportation services. Just treat her right, and escort her anywhere you travel after dark.
NatoPMT Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I dont care if a man has a car. It really is the last thing that i would choose as 'dating criteria to be met'.
tokyo Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Where I live the transportation system is pretty good and you usually can get to most places without a car. Even if this was not the case I´d still not understand it why the guy has to drive the girl around and pick her up. (Am I too easy going and expecting too little??? I´m starting to suspect I´m too nice and demand too little and that´s why some guys don´t respect me at all.)
topgun911111 Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 just walk with your gf that way you can spend time tp gether and foces on her
theedge Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I can say for a fact you don't need a car. I don't drive and my girlfriend lives an hour away. I live in a big city with lots of transportation so I never needed it as transit is better anyway. As long as your not with someone shallow or materialistic it shouldn't matter. My girlfriend knew I didn't drive, but we comprimise. When she is in my neck of the woods she drives of course and when I go out to her area I take the train. My brother never drove either and he is married. If the person likes you then they won't care if you drive or not.
GirlDown Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 i don't know if i consider myself shallow and materialistic, but it was a real pain in the a$$ to have a boyfriend without a car. he was a moron in every way, though. so maybe that made me less tolerant.
Merin Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Originally posted by GirlDown he was a moron in every way, though. so maybe that made me less tolerant. Could be...
GirlDown Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 yes, definitely could be. unfortunately i looked past his moronic status for too long, but isn't that usually the case? nope, wheels would not have made a difference...
bnakach Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 When I first started dating my bf, he didn't have a car he had wrecked it during a race. I didn't mind, I had my own car so I picked him up on our first date. It didn't bother me at all, cause he told me at first and it was my decision to be with him car-less or with a car. Take the bus and meet her there, if she's a real girl she won't mind she would see that you're willing to do anything to see her.
