Hey there,

Just updating everyone here that me and F sent in our petition for a fiancee visa last month. I haven't been on LS for quite some time because I was busy on Visajourney website to get more insight on the process.

There is one thing that I wish I knew before, that is, the evidence of our meeting in person because apparently photos are only secondary proof. I wish I kept all my boarding passes, hotel receipts, and stuff.

Now, we are waiting for the approval which could take up to several months but we are hoping that we will be approved sooner. I miss cuddling badly!! :(

You should have emails and the stamps in your passport to prove you were in the country.

Yes! I was going to mention that. I hope that the passport stamps will be prove enough that we were both in a same country at the same time :D

Congratulations!!!

We're in the same boat. Do you have purchase receipts? We kept all of them via email. I have some boarding passes, but some were lost while traveling.

Also if you've gone traveling together, those are good too. My F and I went away a few times this year together, so we have receipts of both of us being on the same itinerary.

The more evidence the better.

Our process began in September 2010 and we received approval in April of 2011. Patience is key.....and filling out the forms correctly.

Is your SO moving to the US?

Thank you. We have lots of pictures, with friends in it too. We do travel together but he always go with his ship and I will fly there. I don't have too many receipts but I do think that we have provide them with enough evidence! :D If I knew that we need all of the receipts, boarding passes, everything with both out names in it, I would have kept all of them properly.

When did you send in your petition??

No, I am moving to the US. My SO is with the navy so he's tied up to his contract there. I did all the paperwork and he went through them and put his signature on. It makes me feel so much better that I know everything is in order and that we have enough evidence.. :D

Approval during the interview or the NOA2? I know it's going to be a long wait but in the mean time, we will have visits in between.

Both I believe. We received the NOA2 by mail but she also had an interview at the consulate in her home city.....a very brief interview.

Good luck to everyone in the same boat as you two. The process can be a little overwhelming and take forever but the reward is more than worth it.

If he has any confirmation from his ship that he was traveling and you have your travel docs, you can line them up. How about any hotel rooms with both of your names on it?

We're submitting our petition towards the end of the year and hope to get approval by the end of next summer or before the end of next year. I'm on a contracted project until the end of 2014 and I don't want to break it with my employer. The juggling of time is tough. We're doing the K1 so we're planning for an 8 month wait, give or take.

If you have cell phone records, emails as well that'll help. Or if you both went to a family event (weddings etc).

As evidence, we include emails, skype logs, pictures from every places we've been to together (some with both our friends), including my visit to him at his place, where we went to a ball together :bunny: Passport stamps.. I told him to include his credit card statement but he said it was not necessary.

I documented each visit with the emails talking about it, itineraries, boarding passes, passport stamps, pictures. Now, I'm not sure if I include the hotel receipt but the hotels were all under my name.

I don't really worry though because we did meet the initial requirement, have met in the last 2 years :bunny:

Family events will be at the end of this year, so, I will use that as proof of ongoing relationship during the interview. I am guessing that my interview will be sometime early next year, IF we get approved in USCIS stage which I know we will but I don't want to jinx it.

You will have a lot of time to get all the stuff ready then! Visajourney is really helpful btw.

You should be fine! :) Don't stress too much. They may ask for more evidence during the interview, so if you want to get the things you left off printed, you can have that in your back pocket. But it sounds like you have enough evidence.

I know the feeling of not wanting to jinx it. :) I think you will be fine and I can't wait for myself to start the process. I'm glad I get to hear about your experience.

Congrats, OP! :)

Did your airline not send you flight itineraries via email? I think you could use those along with passport stamps. I doubt that hotel receipts etc are as useful as those - you generally want stuff that has both your names (or faces) on it, and AFAIK hotel receipts are anonymous.

I also don't know about the USA, but here, bank statements were a HUGE part of the deal, as they wanted to see financial dependence or interdependence. Perhaps the USA is different, but IMO it never hurts to offer extra stuff (within reason), so I would include the credit card statement especially if it lines up with payments for flights, payments made at your city and his, etc.

For CE I had to submit a copy of my most recent W2 statement. I was required to make in a year anything above the poverty level (according to the paperwork 18k or more a year)

I did include the itineraries, along with other evidence. I am pretty sure that they are enough.

We will get more photos with my family members soon so I will use that for my interview, assuming that I get approved by the USCIS. So, more proof!

I don't need the financial evidence for the first part of the application.

Is that all that you gave them?

In regards to providing evidence that I can support her financially, yes.

Good to know. But I will still probably ask for bank statements and stuff... just to be safe because the requirements varies from one embassy to the other, right?

No doubt that each countries embassy will vary. Better to be safe than sorry so go for it.
