Why would AP get mad if....

I state that their happiness is important me. That I would respect them no matter what they choose, but simply need to know which way they are headings.

Even if AP doesn't get mad, she is not to give you a straight-forward or honest answer either. I think you need to make your own decisions outside of her response.

When I questioned why he wouldn't stand up to his wife and do what HE wanted. His feelings were hurt because I was basically calling him a coward. Yet, he couldn't understand why I would imply that. He seemed to not have the ability to see how his actions (or lack of actions) appeared from my perspective.

People can't always make decisions on demand. They have to think them through, sleep on them, etc. Maybe she's not able to at the moment.

They need more time. They don't like the pressure.
