ash119 Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Okay so I am sort of in a complicated situation. I have a crush on a bartender. It basically began with a little bit of flirtation coming from his angle. The first time I met him he would wink at me, give me free drinks...no conversation really though. After a few more visits to the bar he continued this behavior. We hardly talk (just small talk) and don't really even flirt other than smiling and eye contact. I do feel a real connection between the two of us though. He gives me the free drinks and none of my friends, he hardly even acknowledges that they are with me. He doesn't even smile at the other female patrons in the very crowded bar. Yet he gives me lots of attention. Then one night as I was heading out I said goodbye and he kissed me on the lips. This has continued for about a month. When I arrive and when I leave he kisses me and will call me "goregous" or "baby"...gives me free drinks still everytime, winks, all of the other bartenders now know me...and trust me this behavior does not go on with any of the other girls in the bar (he only works that night there and i watch him)...He even keeps his eye on me if other guys talk to me. I just feel like he gets really nervous around me. Last week I tried to talk to him but we both tensed up and it made conversation really difficult. I'm shy and he's a bartender! He hasn't asked for my number or anything but this keeps going on...is he into me or what?!
UCFKevin Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Probably not. He's a bartender. That's their way. Sorry. I COULD be wrong, but it's like thinking a stripper is actually into you. It's really quite likely that he's just going for a big tip.
Author ash119 Posted November 18, 2004 Author Posted November 18, 2004 well its definitely not the tips...I don't tip him any differently than I would tip anyone else (and definitely not more than anyone else in the bar) and at times he has given me change with no single bills......I would ordinarily brush this off saying "yeah he is a bartender" but he just doesn't act this way with anyone else....he doesn't even talk to other people in the bar.
GirlDown Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 you obviously thinks he likes you, regardless of someone else's advice... it is true that bartenders can be overly friendly because that is their job. he probably is smiling at and talking to other girls (and probably men who are also customers) because he couldn't be in that job if he blatantly ignored other people or was rude to absolutely everyone but you. i am sure you are watching him, but can you really watch him alllll the time? if you didn't take your eyes off of him even once, that would be a little weird for anybody, i would imagine, not to mention completely uncomfortable. why don't you just ask him? the worst thing that could happen would be he would say he's just not interested. you always have the option of going to another bar if this happens and you feel weird about going back to that one... good luck, and i hope it works out the way you want it to!
