rez100 Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 So, I struck up a conversation with a woman in a chat room last week. I have a few online friends, but I havent done much online stuff. Anyways, we've chatted almost every night this week. Ive seen lots of pictures (if theyre really her), but other than that, Ive never spoken to her, just the online stuff. Anyways, I think Im actually starting to like her. Is this possible to like someone youve never actually met? Keep in mind... Im in my 30s. Ive dated a lot and had several girlfriends (both long and short term), and I dont have a hard time meeting people to date. We just seem to really be having some great conversations and find each other attractive (from pics I mean). Is there any way this could actually lead to something? Ive never done anything like this before...besides a brief stint on Match, which I didnt like at all.
UCFKevin Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Of course it's possible. It happens a lot.
bluechocolate Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Is there any way this could actually lead to something? Yeah, why not? It happens all the time. Just make sure you spend some quality face-time together before you start thinking it's actually serious.
LaShawn Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 I met my boyfriend online. It is absolutely possible. The one caution I have is...be sure that you don't build her up too much in your mind before you actually meet her. People show their best sides online, just like most people do on the first few dates. Online it is even easier to put your best foot forward. Basically I approached online the same I do real life...take things slow and make sure the person is really who they are portraying themselves to be. Go for it!!!

tattoomytoe Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 i have never met any of my LS buddies and i like them quite a lot. you have conversed with her, which is what you would do if you physically met her. So you have met her, just never seen her. it is a different relationship though, as you know only what she will tell you.
Author rez100 Posted November 18, 2004 Author Posted November 18, 2004 Well, we're definitely going to have to take it slow since we live several states apart. But...who knows. Weirder stuff has happened. I think Im going to try to talk her into a webcam at some point though. I at least want to make sure Im talking to who I think Im talking to and not some hairy, overweight, 50 year old gay man.

UCFKevin Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 I have a few friends who met their spouses online. So it ain't as taboo as one would think.

DayumQuitPlayin Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Aint nothin wrong with liking someone from the Net. I've met some people from the Net.. that we became tight friends. Anyways, Yea.. take the advise that one person said..about taking things slow.. cuz that is true, people do portray their best qualities online... and time after time.. you're thoughts/feelings will be so built up that it will be a disappoint once you meet them and chill with eachother for awhile. Newayz.. best of luCC to u
UCFKevin Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Are you supposed to be Storm Shadow from GI Joe in that picture?
bluetuesday Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 it's not only possible to like someone you've never met, i think in some ways it's more likely. barriers come down very quickly this way and that makes you feel artificially close. but liking someone you don't really know is a bit like liking a celebrity. you think you know all about them and that's what you base your feelings on. it's often a skewed perspective. and i don't care how many johnny cusack websites you've devoured, you don't know the guy.
