I feel so lonely today :(

My 7 yr relationship ended last October and my ex who was also my best friend moved out a few weeks ago. He moved back to the state we moved here from.

I saw him last weekend for lunch whilst I was visiting and now I am back home (4 hr flight away) we are on good terms and care for each other, it is sad that we couldn't make it work between us.

I was in another relationship after my breakup for a short whilst but this guy was just playing games with me and using me. He wasn't that into me and I learned a lot from that experience. That relationship has recently ended as well, which is a relief as it was very unhealthy for me and now here I am alone.

I do alright most days, but today I am crying. I feel like I don't know who I am anymore. I am cleaning my house today, throwing away things I don't use or need but really I feel like curling up in my bed and sleeping these bad feelings away.

You're doing the right thing by crying at letting yourself feel. Feeling is the only way to let go of emotions.

Cleaning the house will help you stay distracted. Any activities like that that make you think.

Exercise is a good release. Endorphins and chemicals are released that improve happiness and relieve stress.

Boxing or a combat class of any kind really helps. I myself am a Thai kick boxer and I've never been more happy in my skin and relaxed since I started doing it. The confidence in yourself and the release of anger and frustration is incredible. So you could always look into a friendly boxing class.

As for the loneliness well there's only one cure for that. Company! Ring a friend over and shoot the ****. Spend some time with the dog if you have one. They live to make you happy. Or see the family. Theres no replacement for socializing.

Good luck :)

We've got to go through the pain to get past the pain. It WILL pass.

I'm sorry you're feeling like this. :(

Crying while I clean, I've been doing a lot of that myself recently. But like you said, you're doing alright most days. This is just a day. It will pass.

Thanks everyone ... I am still feeling awful as I clean, it is just a super depressive day. At least I am being productive I suppose.

Hopefully tomorrow is an improvement!

So cry a little, feel sorry for yourself, but remember you alone are responsible for your happiness. You will hurt for a while, but be determined that you will get over this in time, a stronger and better person. Accept life's tragedies.

Yeah, it is so up and down. I am almost 6 months NC and still have bad days. Usually weekends as they allow so much idle time.

Be sure you:

1. Stay busy and distracted

2. Try to re-direct negative and sad thoughts

3. Exercise and enjoy the outdoors

4. MOST IMPORTANTLY, do whatever you can to grow and improve mentally and emotionally. Read anything that appeals to you. Talk with a counselor. Practice strengthening techniques. This is an opportunity to learn and grow!!
