NIN Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 I'm hoping somebody could fill me in on what's going on here. It all started when I met this girl at the bar she was working at. Let me point out that she was a waitress there, but was not serving me. I immediately felt a connection with her (which is rare for me) and it seemed as though she felt one with me. Anyway, every time I came into the bar she would come up to me to say "hi" and flirt, but usually was not my server. So finally I asked her for her number and she gave it to me. I called her and left a message saying "Hey it's Brian. I talked to you at the bar the other day and told you I'd give you a call, so I was seeing if you want to hang out some time this week. Give me a call." And I left my number. Well, I never heard back from her. Then the next time I went to the bar I started talking to her, but her friend didn't seem to like my company, so she started talking to her and ignoring me. I noticed the girl I like kept looking at me, but was talking to her friend. So I got anoyed and left them alone. Then the next couple times I went to the bar she came over to say hi to me, but I kind of ignored her, as I was still anoyed about the last time. Then, a couple weeks later, I ended up hanging out with her and a couple other people at my friend's house (i guess my friend was friends with her friend. Just a big coincidence). We ended up spending some time alone, and she kept talking to me like she felt really comfortable with me. Then she said that we should hang out some time, and asked me for my number. So I gave it to her. Then, a few days later I called her and left another message, which she never returned. A few days after that, I hung out with a friend of mine who said he talked to her the other night about me and asked her why she didn't call me back (refering to the first time I called her) and she told him that she wasn't sure exactly who left the message, and that it sounded kind of weird. Well, that's pretty much most of the story. I really got the impression that she likes me, especially since she asked for my number. but I don't understand why she doesn't return my phone calls. Mabey this seems obvious to you guys, but I have no clue what she is thinking, and I'm not sure exactly how to procede. But I like this girl, and I would like to go out with her some time. I just don't want to keep leaving messages if she's not interested. Plus, I don't understand how that first message was weird. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here? Please let me know if you do. Thanks.
uriel Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 If she really liked you, she would have called the second time, when you gave her your number. Sounds like her remark to your friend was just an excuse -- so he wouldn't report back something hurtful to you. I say give up on her and move on to someone else. -- uriel
Jilly10340 Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 Yeah, if she likes you she would have called back at least the second time if not the first. There's never been a guy who's phone call I haven't returned if I liked him. If you want to find out for sure, the next time you guys hang out then give her your phone number. Then, the ball is in her court and if she doesn't call you then it's her loss.
Author NIN Posted November 17, 2004 Author Posted November 17, 2004 But what I don't understand is why she asked my for my phone number if she wasn't interested.
alphamale Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 Well NIN, some women like to collect phone numbers and business cards just as much as men do. They usually have a shoe box they keep them in, it is an ego/power thing more than anything else. This woman has no interest in you whatsoever. Move on!

Because she wants to stay on your good side so she doesn't lose a regular customer at her place of business. Hitting on a waitress or bartender is tough, man, and they get hit on ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the time. Unless she shows you with obvious, blatant actions that she's into you (which she hasn't done) then she's not. It sounds like you're dead in the water.
Pocky Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 How long has it been since the second message?
Author NIN Posted November 18, 2004 Author Posted November 18, 2004 Pocky: I left her a message on Sunday.
