I directly addressed the meat of your assertion, that being 'playing the field' prior to 'settling down', indicating the person had numerous sexual encounters prior to landing in a long term relationship or marriage.

Along the continuum, until there's a history in such a LTR or M, how does one determine the maturity level of a person with a history of 'playing the field'? Likewise, how does one determine that same maturity level with someone who has never 'played the field'.

For a male version of this dynamic, I'll direct you to this thread:

Here is someone who apparently is 'playing the field' with young virgins as a 35 yo male, evidently impregnating one. Shall we consider him more 'mature' than a similar 35 yo virgin male? Now, he could 'settle down' tomorrow and, if so, then would it all be OK?

Like I always say, there are no rewards in life for doing the right thing, except in one's own psyche and belief system. Perhaps that is a facet of 'maturity', something apparently 'Mike' in the thread is yet to discover. Maybe a few more sexual partners will give him the information he requires. I hope so.

I didn't make any moral judgements about people playing the field before marriage, nor did I say that people who have had more sexual experience are automatically more mature. Sexuality and relationships are not the only indicators of maturity.

There is no need for me to mask the intent or meaning of my words. If I felt that playing the field makes someone more mature, I would have bloody well said so and left it at that.
