93TheHitStick Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I'm like 6'5 and i used to be real fat. Like 390 pounds fat but i lost all that weight. I'm down to below 15% bodyfat. My body pretty much looks like this http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/31500000/David-Beckham-Shirtless-david-beckham-31554238-430-606.jpg But i always feel like really skinny. Especially when i see those super buff guys i kinda feel as if im lacking. But i doubt i'll ever be buff because i worked out all through high school when i was playing football. I still workout now. But i never get swole. And to be honest i don't really wanna be swole i think it looks kinda gross. But my girlfriend she always stares at buff guys. Like everywhere we go when she sees a dude with big muscles she wont stop glancing at him. And she'll make little comments about how buff her ex was. Omg i couldn't believe how buff he was. Crap like that. So do girls really prefer those super buff guys? And let me also say that i'm as strong or stronger then most of the short buff guys i know. All my lifting partners got huge without me and i stayed skinny but i can still lift more then them. My muscles are just long.
FitChick Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 You sound like an ectomorph so you will never be bulky. I prefer someone like you with what is usually referred to as a swimmer's body -- long and lean. So do plenty of other women. If your girlfriend doesn't, find someone who appreciates your hard work.
CarrieT Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 But my girlfriend she always stares at buff guys. Like everywhere we go when she sees a dude with big muscles she wont stop glancing at him. And - no - not all girls prefer super buff guys. Some of us don't give a hoot about muscles whatsoever. I prefer brains over brawn, personally. 3
StanMusial Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Short and fat is the way to go. Like imagine if Verne Troyer gained 100 lbs. He would be fightin' 'em off with a stick.
acrosstheuniverse Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 As a 5ft 9 lady, tall and skinny is the way forward for me... I wanna be able to snuggle into my man's neck and feel petite next to him... But if I'm into a dude, I really couldn't care less. My ex was only the same height as me but his personality and presence was enough that I honestly don't think I even thought about his height. He was buff though... If you're tall you can be skinny but short guys would probably get more action if they bulked up a bit. Obviously just my preference.
HappyLove Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I think the real issue here is if your gf is rude or not. Who says that to their bf?
bentleychic Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Neither, I like my guys around 6' with a little bit of meat on them. Big cuddly teddy bears is what I like. 1

CarrieT Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 BTW, OP, does the "93" in your name mean what I think it does?
Phoe Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I personally am not fussed about body types. 1
MrCastle Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Very few girls in my experience like "super buff" guys. In fact I know approximately 0 women who prefer dating guys who are bulging out. Average height, slender/fit dudes get the most action from what I've seen. As long as you're not skinny to the point where you look frail, or significantly overweight, you'll be fine. Being in good shape is enough.

todreaminblue Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 i certainly wouldnt talk about how buff my ex was to a boyfriend i was with, causes insecurity....obviously.......i wouldnt want to be compared to an ex...i am just me.....whoever i am with is not my ex nor should he be...didnt work last time...... muscles are not what makes a man.......my ex was a body builder and also a massive cheat with those massive muscles ....and massive v shaped back...... i am attracted to the man not the framework ...deb
mesmerized Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I like buff guys but not too buff. Most skinny guys aren't that attractive to me either. If you think your girl friend is not attracted to you enough, dump her and get a new one.

All my lifting partners got huge without me and i stayed skinny but i can still lift more then them. My muscles are just long. Well done losing that much! I dropped from 20 stone and 38% bodyfat to 10 stone and currently 14% heading for 10 by doing the ketogenic diet. I am very much the same I did weight training and tried to bulk early 20's but my genetics say no and it is the same in my family you are either skinny or fat. I have managed to gain some muscle over the last few years but I enjoy being thin and even though my brain still tells me I am fat I am well on my way to being very lean if I carry on. One of the biggest problems of not being able to bulk is calories, on keto you teach your body to eat fat and treat carbs and sugar as the enemy while maintaining a deficit, but to bulk you must eat double your daily caloric intake which most of that will come from carbs. I truly admire real body builders because I could never do that, I literally cannot consume that much food and so instead I stick to a diet that gets me in my best physical shape instead. Some girls like fat, some like bulked up and muscle and some like thin with lean muscle. Go with whatever you can achieve. Edited September 6, 2013 by Dallers

Being in good shape is enough. My friend was dating a competition bodybuilder. She said she was self-conscious around him because he was ripped and she had a cottage cheese ass. LOL. Her words exactly. I know another girl who dated a bodybuilder and she was bored to death because of his lifestyle, which was eating only chicken breasts and drinking no alcohol. Plus he went to bed early every single night and spent hours in the gym every single day. Its a lifestyle, unless the girl was into it as well I don't see it working. 1

It's almost a job at that point. The amount of time you need to spend to get significantly buff -- well most people simply don't have that kind of time if they have other interests. I could see it working with a female gym rat though.
CrystalCastles Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I personally could not care less. I've liked some pretty fat guys before. But they were guys with brains and a sense of humour. But usually I'd take any body type EXCEPT for buff. I don't like a lot of muscle. It turns me off. 1
lino Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 As a muscular bloke, I can confirm quite a few women aren't into it and most of the ones who are consist of fairly low quality women. I love working out and I'm naturally very defined and muscular so I won't change for anyone and I'm lucky the girl I'm with likes my body and isn't a low quality person. You've done well to lose the weight and get a girlfriend... A lot of guys can't do half of that. Keep up what you're doing and tell your girl to shut up about her ex boyfriend. 1
