RedRobin Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I came back from my parent's place this summer with a nice tan and my hair noticeably lighter from the sun... I thought it would be fun to get some colored contact lenses to jazz up my look a bit... since I don't tend to wear much makeup and well... just for fun. Ended up getting a very nice pair of green and sort of an aqua blue (my eyes are naturally hazel)... WOW!!! I am totally impressed... Really makes my eyes 'pop'. I don't think I'd ever wear makeup again, these look so awesome... So, I was just curious... if you guys met a woman who had these amazing eyes... then found out later they were contacts... what would you think?
kaylan Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 (edited) If they look natural sure. I think its lame when I can tell someone is wearing obviously fake eye color. There are a couple of forums for contact lens wearers out there. They do reviews on different brands. And rate comfort, how natural they look, and how safe the brand is. I ordered this brand from Brazil once named Solotica. Im not sure how available the brand is nowadays though. It may be more widely distributed. Very natural looking, but they caused discomfort for some people since the lenses were thicker than some brands. Im not sure if they are still around. And I didnt wear them much. You should always be cautious about stuff thats not been looked over by your countries regulatory health agencies. Thats a risk you have to be mindful of if you order a brand outside of your nation. Heres the forum I used to use. Im not sure how active it is now http://lensaholics.proboards.com/ Heres an example of the brand I mentioned. Back in 2008/9 when I used that forum, Solotica was all the rage because of how they made lenses. And they were rather affordable too. Instead of just being an opaque coloring over your eyes, the Solotica brand made lenses that were more transparent...so the color blended into with your eye color. So they looked super natural and people couldnt tell you had lenses in. Thus depending on your natural eye color, youd get a different result from the same lens someone else might use. So if you do decide you like that brand, make sure you look at reviews from people with a similar eye color to yours. Edited August 30, 2013 by kaylan 4
Miss_raptor Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I'm sure it would depend on how natural the color looked, and how the guy felt about your natural color. My boyfriend would be disappointed that I covered my eyes color (hazel/amber) since they're one of his favorite features on me. That said, do it for yourself! If you think it looks awesome, it does. Wear it with confidence, have some fun. I think most guys would be more okay with colored contacts than a ton of makeup. 1
2sure Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I have worn them , jut for fun. Scared the hell out of my daughter when she was little just because they were a different color. My eyes are nearly black, so anything is quite a contrast. She wears them now too. Between us, we have a few colors plus a set of cat eyes and some scary ones. I've worn those with the cat/reptilian pupils out on a first date. 2
tbf Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Back when, I used to wear blue lenses for fun (naturally brown eyed), some of the time. Never had any negative feedback, only positive. 1
Author RedRobin Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 I watched the video... really nice change with her eyes!

Ill be looking into these and if they are still available I'm definitely getting them!
Author RedRobin Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 Back when, I used to wear blue lenses for fun (naturally brown eyed), some of the time. Never had any negative feedback, only positive. The aqua ones on me look amazing. Like that woman on the National Geographic Cover years ago... my natural (rather light hazel.... more like olive colored eyes) underneath the blue/aqua has a similar effect. 2
KungFuJoe Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Maybe it's just me, but there's something about the eyes where I don't think they should be touched. Dye your hair, get a boob job, pierce whatever you want...I'm cool. But change your eye color? I dunno. It would have to be a once in a blue moon deal to go with a very specific look. Then I guess I would be ok...but if you were naturally a brown eyed girl and you ALWAYS wore blue contacts...not cool with that. The eyes are the windows to your soul... 5
white Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Nominally it sounds kinda cool. In practice I think it'd be kinda weird. You turn up with different coloured eyes all the time... like turning up with a different nose.
gaius Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I don't think I would care much if I found out later her eyes were a different color. It's the feeling you get from looking in them, not the color that really matters. If you're wearing ones that give such an unnatural but beautiful look the guys probably gonna know they're fake anyway. You're gonna get ogled more now too. The few times I've seen color like that I've always found myself stealing frequent looks. It's definitely an eye catcher. 1
thefooloftheyear Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I love brown eyed women...I dont have an opinion about whether its considered a negative or not...It wouldnt bother me per se.... I guess the only ones who might have a problem with it are those who are "captivated" by your deep beautiful, blue eyes and then find out they arent really yours. I guess that might lead to some letdown..*shrug*.. I guess some of this stuff like this or boob jobs, tummy tucks, etc...There is a little of the "finding out the great Wizard of Oz is just some old guy behind a curtain pulling levers" feel to it.. Its your body...Have fun and do what makes you happy.. TFY
sillyanswer Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 So, I was just curious... if you guys met a woman who had these amazing eyes... then found out later they were contacts... what would you think? Same as if she had a nice pair of shoes or a sexy dress, I'd be thinking "I hope she'll wear those again when she sees me." 1
Author RedRobin Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 Ok, now is where I also add that I have a fun collection of wigs. I only pull them out for Halloween, but they are pretty awesome. It would be great to sport the dark black one (like La Femme Nikita) w[/url]ith these blue eyes sometime... maybe fake a French or Russian accent. Fun night at the wine bar, THAT would be...
todreaminblue Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I wanted a pair of coloured contact lenses years ago so i tried on this pair of white ones...i wanted white eyes...or electric violet.....lol.....the optometrist said some people arent suited to contacts........i thought it would be fine.held my head back .and he put a white eye in...my eyes started to water and sting like crap ..it didnt change with time........i said i guess i can go around squinting and let the tears roll and be the sad undead...he just laughed and said.......they arent for you.......he told me i had pretty eyes anyway and he coudl tell that they often change color mainly because they went bright green from crying ...smilin.....cheesy.......so my love affair with contacts was over..it would be cool to have eyes like the undead though........ seriously though red robin,do guys actually go otu with a girl because of the color of their eyes...i think those are the only guys who would mind that you had contacts.......cheers red robin..smilin....green eyes rock on.......deb
Author RedRobin Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 Aww... that sucks you can't wear contacts, Deb. I like the natural color too... just would be for fun.
Auguria Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I can't really pinpoint it exactly but to me for as long as I can remember, artificially changing one' s eye color has often times been a sign of profound insecurity. I don't necessarily think I am right in this aspect but wanting to change something as important as one's regard/look/stare has always translated into not being comfortable or secure enough with oneself.

Eh...thats a stretch, imo...Its a pair of contacts....Its not like hanging upside down for hours with a heavy backpack on for a few inches of height.. TFY
Author RedRobin Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 Here's a pair of eyes very close to my natural color... Not complaining Just is like having curly hair if yours is straight... brunette if blonde... etc. Especially since it's not permanent.

melodymatters Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I agree it can be fun to go out " as a different person" once in awhile, just pray you don't meet anyone you would like to get to know further in a romantic way ! I have a small theatre troupe, so lots of costumes and wigs. I did the above and ended up meeting the best friend of the guy I just started dating. It was weird. I also agree with Kung Fu Joe that the eyes are the window to the soul, and I wouldn't mind fake boobs or hair, but I also don't feel like I "know" a person until I look into their eyes. Many a date have been asked to take their sunglasses off for a minute. 1

I'm not that worried about meeting someone in a romantic way... I don't date strangers. Just curious about people's reactions... Thanks!
Author RedRobin Posted August 31, 2013 Author Posted August 31, 2013 for a short period... I've got my eyes in the profile picture (natural eyes, no makeup... and yes, that is the natural hair color too). If I get around to it, I'll post pics of the different contact colors for fun... 1

They just don't stand out. People always say my smile is my best feature. It really would be fun for a change to see what the eyes can do
