jacg89 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 We've been friends for a year. He lives upstairs w/ his uncle & 2 brothers. We also all work together PT. We're all really close. And this one guy, we just started making out like the past 2 weeks. We've liked e/o for a really long time. & We hang out together on our days off. The only thing that is holding us back from being in a relationship is that he is going back to his country in about 6 months, for a year. he doesn't want either of us to get hurt, but who knows what the future holds. he wants me to come visit him in his country for a couple days, but he wants to go there 'free' to work & see his fam that he hasn't seen in 6 years. my fam knows about him and I. we both snuggle together in my house & we have such a great connection, but its weird that when we are with friends or his family, he'll give me a hug but we're just friends at that point. We've never had sex btw. As for his family(our coworkers) he says that "they know already, but they don't have to know." ...UH? that doesn't make any sense? I kinda just wished that he would be more intimate with me around them... But we are not in a relationship, sooo... What gives with this? Is this normal behavior? I don't really have so much other relationship experience..
ForeverHopeful1 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 If he liked you that much, he would show it and usually people who like other people, tell the people they are closest to. He doesn't want to be with you, now, or probably ever, and is letting you down nicely so he can use you as a snuggle buddy until he leaves to go back to his home country in 6 months. When he comes back, 18 months from now, you may be with someone else, or he may be with someone else... This dynamic works for him at the present time, and he is not being honest with you. He wants to have you to himself behind closed doors and for some reason either doesn't want to be with you, or is embarrassed by you. I am not sure which one it is. Usually when people give you an excuse as to why they don't want to date you, it is you they don't want to date. Its not the situation. Its you. If you were that special to him, he would be happy to tell people and be open about it. Instead, he hides in your place, cuddling with you. As soon as anyone else is around, youre not good enough. How much dating experience does he have and have you told him this is kind of offensive? Youre good enough to be with behind closed doors, but not good enough for ANYONE to know you two coexist in this manner?
