A girl at school was really flirty one day and cold the next?

We're in college, and she showed plenty of interest. I thought she was cute so I was happy about it. There was prolonged eye contact (several seconds long), teasing, she kept stealing glances. But the next day she was completely unresponsive. Is that playing hard to get, or what?

I was feeling pretty good about myself, but the next day she had this "oh, ok" attitude and about as much personality as a mannequin, no smiles, no body language signals, no vibe at all. It felt like she was deliberately manipulating me. What do you think would 'cause this? There was no awkwardness and no one put their foot in their mouth or anything. Does she just sound like she just manipulated me, she's trying to play hard to get and not very good at the game?

Maybe she was having a crappy day the second day. :) Seriously, though, this doesn't sound like it's got much to do with you. If she comes around again, flirt away! But this likely is not a ruse, a "game," or anything like that.

Maybe she's trying to play it cool and it's coming across as cold. Go talk to her and see how it plays out.

Being that you and this girl are in college together and it is the first week I recommend seeing how she is next week. If she's flirty again with you then ask her out.

If you are both in your first year it would be best if you ask out her and a few other girls. The one who says yes will declare you her boyfriend. Insecure college age women are all dying to have a boyfriend. If and when that happens don't take it too seriously because they break up just as readily often by cheating on their putative boyfriends.
