Hey Guys,

So my ex-boyfriend and I broke up abut 6 weeks ago. The problem is we went to school together and have the same social circle. We have not seen each other and have barely talked since the break-up. We've only exchanged one text message about a couple weeks ago. Judging from his very closed off response, it doesn't sound like he's ready to or wants to speak to me. I didn't respond to the text bc I'm trying to give him his space.

However, we have a friend's bday party this friday and I noticed we both RSVP'd. Should I ask him if he's going. We said we'd talk about common events before we went to them.

I just feel like its better we talk before the event so its not awkward for us or all our friends. What is the best way to handle this?

No, you dont need to talk to him before hand....My ex and i had the same social group also and we both were at a friends bday party, if you do see him there be polite, act cool and give him a hug and chat a bit if you like.. Then you can go on with the party or do whatever else... If its too uncomfortable, you can always leave.
