Dear All,

I am new to this site so I appreciate that this may have been raised in the past but I could do with some advice. I am a single male in my mid 20's who moved to London at Christmas due to a relationship break up. I feel ready to start dating again and have met a few girls through work and my local drinking holes but it always turns into the same pattern - go out, get pissed, back to mine (or hers), plan to meet up in future, FRIENDZONED or crazy ex-boyfriend (who turns out not to be an EX) turns up and wants to mix it up outside my flat.

My problem is that I am not a bad looking lad and I am confident speaking to girls but I am sick of rinsing and repeating the same old pattern. I have been told by a workmate that I should give online dating ago and take a spin at somewhere like match.com. I have read a few articles and they all seam to say more or less the same - be honest, do a decent profile and go from there. I was just wondering if OLD is the way to go (I am only in my mid 20's but I believe that dating should be done the old fashion way, until now haha)!. I have also been advised that going on one of the sites where you have to pay is better than somewhere like POF?? I am confused and need help!!

Whats up with online dating ? Ive gone out on a date and we met through a dating website. So far so good. The benefit of online dating is that they are a lot to choose from and you can go on rotation. Sounds a little weird and exhausting but if you're willing and then go for it until you find someone who you can see yourself with in the future. Trust me these days its not easy to meet people let alone someone to go on a date. So why not resort to online dating ? If youve thought that online dating was for bunch of losers who just couldnt get anyones attention in real life then think again.

Hi Rikko,

I do not think that online dating is only for a bunch of losers and I never said that. It is just something that I have never really considered and this will take me out of my comfort zone but I am wiling to try it - I just know that there are a lot of sites out there but I am currently favouring match.com (just on reccomendations) and wanted to get peoples experiences of using either this or similar sites.

There's no guarantee where you will meet the love of your life so why not date online and off? Maybe you need to slow down with these girls get to know them and date them so you can be sure they don't have a crazy boyfriend. Crazy people are online too but at least you can weed them out the best you can. It's not that hard just jump in try it and see if you like it. You'll probably be overwhelmed with the choices at first. Good Luck!

I don't get what is wrong with being friends with a girl? What is so critical to people to have something called a "relationship" over a friendship. Do not underestimate the value of a friend. Appreciate it. Cherish it.
