Why is he so shy?

Hello

well I'm a college student, have been dating "carl" for about 3 months now. He is a strange fellow, in which I will explain why in the preceding sentences. He is a extremely courteous gentlemen. He grew up with all women, therefore has a high respect for them, including me. He will barely make a move on me, I have to make moves on him! Unless of course, he has had alcohol in his system. ha ha He calls me every day when he gets out of practice (college athletics), and then he will call me every night before he goes to sleep. Last week he brought me to meet his entire family at a function, and pretty much his entire high school where he was big man on campus. So...this makes me thinks he likes me and wants to keep me around.

However, my problem is that...WE HARDLY EVER HANG OUT. Maybe...once a week he will stay with me or I'll stay with him. And we live 10 mintues apart. He will take me dancing once a week, or take me on a date. He studies a lot, because he wants to get into law school, but can't he take a break every once in a while, i mean, especially if say, I was horny or something!? :) He is a obsessive deer hunter so he is gone every weekend, so weekends are out of the question. I am not a forward girl, I do not whine, I do not hardly ever tell him how i feel, expect for I am about to b/c i am sick of not knowing how he feels. I am a rather shy person, and so is he, and we are very much alike. I am sick of playying hard to get in a sense by acting like I dont care, when I really do, and I want him to open up to me, too.

Every guy i have ever dated has pretty much fallen at my feet, told me i was beautiful, etc...he does not do this. He is not rude EVER, but he does not tell me things like this. Am I just used to guys being obsessed with me, and since he's not and he's a chase, it drives me crazy!? Does it not seem like he likes me if he brings me to meet his parents, sister, etc, and take me around his friends?

So my question, is , what do I do about this? Do I say somethign to him and risk losing out on this? I just dont want to screw things up b/c he is the type of guy whom I want to marry, I know it sounds crazy, but really. he is perfect in every sense, except that we don't freaking hang out!!!! What is wrong with him!??? THanks !

I am in your shoes right now. Well, I've been there but I've learned to be a more forward girl when I like someone. From what you wrote, I say in your own way tell him how you feel. I can't say definitively if he likes you but he obviously has some interest if he did bring you around the fam. He seems to be a really busy guy. He may be seeing more than one person, which may answer y you only see him once a week but me and my b/f only find time once or twice a week b/c we both have equally busy schedules. Just talk to him. You ask why he's so shy but if you admit that your shy he may think the same about you, thus not being more forward with you. It's definitely a good sign how he calls you before he goes to bed, that's sweet I can't lie. If it's in you to be bold. Put yourself out there and let him know that you like him and wish that y'all can hang out more. Or simply ask him "Why don't we hang out more often. I enjoy spending time with you but it's not often enough." See what he says to that. It's better to know than have feelings for someone but be frustrated thinking about how they feel.

good luck... :bunny:

Be forward--if it's a great guy it is worth the effort!! Call him and ask him out. If you are interested in him sexually, let him know it. People who are reticent are often nervous about making a move on someone, even if they find that person very attractive.

If this guy is this much of an outdoorsman (I grew up in a big deer hunting region) and you don't want to hunt yourself, go hiking with him in state parks, or ask about going to any rifle/archery practices he may have.

I will say that you if you want to have a serious relationship with this guy, you're going to have to accept that he is a more serious minded, driven person, not exactly someone who is going to let down his hair and party every Friday night.

Seems like you want to go out with him more often than once a week. Simply talking about this issue should get him to be more active in your relationship with him.
