marina skylar Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 has anyone ever experienced someone so passionate that it can be an amazing but also a terrifying thing? i recently dated someone who loved whole-heartedly but when we fought, it was just as powerful. How are we to deal with these types of people?

Ninjainpajamas Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Passion is a two way street....it can be great when going down one side of the road but a disaster going up the other. It's not something you can control if you are just that way, it's just how you work...that's your "reality". However like all things, it's a result of something deeper within that causes that extreme. Personally for me I can't relate on an intimate level to people who are so mellow/casual about everything, or can't express themselves or really exude a strong emotion/thought...I would feel like I'm crawling in my skin if I tried to live that way. It feels at times like they have a roadblock that prevents them from going full speed or they're just afraid to be that out of control, maybe even don't know how/don't feel it...from my perspective it feels like some people have governers that limit their top speed...justifiably so at times. It's something I've had to reign in for some consistency/stability and control. Edited August 22, 2013 by Ninjainpajamas 2

How are we to deal with these types of people? People have different definitions for passion I think. There is one which is just the love of drama, push-pull and rollercoaster. Personally, that sends me to sleep because I equate it with dysfunction, fear and lack of awareness. The other is having strong beliefs and sometimes fighting for those beliefs almost without fear. People who are capable of this I think are amazing. 2
Dusk1983 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) No need to worry - it won't last and you'll soon settle into a comfort zone. At that point he'll think things are finally sorted and stable between you, whereas you will get bored because you're no longer in this big, dramatic, romantic movie (with you playing the lead.)
