Anyone ever tried hitting on girls at one? Tips?

Im going to an EDM show friday night. I think itll mostly be house, electro, dubstep and a little hip hop. Im not sure about what scene to expect since my friend invited me and I dont know the DJs playing. The only one Ive ever heard of is Afrika Bambaataa. So I have a small idea of what to expect.

In the past, the only EDM shows I have been to were happy hardcore and DnB. And those styles of EDM are a good bit faster than stuff like house, dub, or electro. Plus the scene at a happy hardcore show is more about dancing. So when I went to those I was just focused on enjoying good vibes and dancing. PLUR was in my mind...not women really.

Im not sure if house shows work the same way, but Im kind of expecting it. Plus based on the pics Ive seen on the promoters website, their shows have a more laid back crowd than your typical raver crowd with half naked people and color kandi kids everywhere.

Any guys here have experience with any EDM scene? To girls whove been to these kinda show, can you tell me the kind of approach youd be open to?

PS - Its a 21+ venue, so in case anyone warns me about running into kids, it wont be a problem at this venue. Plus the DJs and bands playing apparently have a more mature audience.

They're easy to talk to but don't expect too much. You should be OK..

I asked this same question on another forum, and dudes were telling me about guys they know have bathroom sex at the venue. Not my style at all...since its an easy way to catch something. So Im def not expecting much since Im not looking to get laid by some random party girl lol

Id like to just dance, maybe get some hot makeout action (lol), and possibly a number. Im not expecting much. Cus I likely will live far away from anyone I meet, and I expect people who go to these things to be generally flaky.

Itd be nice to make new friends for future events though (male or female).

Yeah, there's a lot of that. My FWB told me her best sexual experience was being f*cked at an EDM show too :lmao:

It just depends on which ones you go to, and who's there. Generally, that's not a guarantee though - you'll most likely get some girls who are extremely friendly though. Easily make friends and dates there. You gotta be swift though - can't be a wallflower like I used to be!

Ah the memories. I could tell you what it's like from a female pov, but we'd be going back 20 years. Things are a lot tamer these days :p

It sounds like fun Kaylan, don't ruin a good time worrying about dating B.S. LOL

"I'm going to go to a place/event notorious for hooking up with complete strangers but I'm going to be cool and different and just dance and maybe make out"

/yawn... Why even go...waste of time if you're going to ask for advice but not want to do it

No one that goes to those shows want to date/have a boyfriend or a nice guy gay best friend

^Lol, didnt I say in the OP that its an older crowd and not a kandi kid scene? The average age will prolly be mid 20s. Its like people didnt read the OP at all...you know, the part where I said pictures of the promoters events show this place not to be a typical rave with immature slutty teenagers.

It sounds like fun Kaylan, don't ruin a good time worrying about dating B.S. LOL

Its just that I havent met a cool chick I want to spend a lot of time with in a while. So Id like to make the most out of my going out opportunities. Either way Im gonna enjoy drinking and bro-ing out with my dudes that night.

Did you miss the part where I said the audience is mature and different from a typical rave? It should be mostly hipster girls and other kinds of chicks you regularly see on nights out, but with an ear for house, electro, and hip hop.

You always make these stupid assumptions. Not everyone who enjoys a night out is looking to sleep around.

The audience might be older and more mature, but an EDM show is an EDM show. You're going to see tons of wasted people, people rolling on Molly, all guys will be shirtless.

The girls there will either be in huge groups with other girls, with a boyfriend, or hanging all over the big beefy guys so they can hold them up on their shoulders to see the DJs.

I wouldn't walk into this thing hoping to get a number, or a first date possibility. It's really just not that kind of scene. It's loud, it's smelly, it's extremely crowded (think bodies pressed together). You're not going to be doing any talking, you won't really be able to hear anyone if you're near a stage.

People go to an EDM show to dress up, dance, feel the beats, drink, possibly roll on Molly and/or smoke weed.

A past show by some of the same people doing this show.

http://tinypic.com/r/magt5k/5 Notice how most people are fully clothed and dressed rather normal, like at a bar.

Stop making assumptions people. Ive been to the kind of EDM parties youre mentioning. But the one on friday wont be one of those parties. And hell, even the happy hardcore shows Ive been too didnt really have shirtless people. Def had kandi kids and a girls with furry feet though.

Not every EDM party/show/concert is the same. They arent all filled with drug using half naked slutty folks. The crowds can be rather diverse depending on the acts playing.

If we were talking an underground show (or a festival or massive), Id agree with everything some of you are saying. But EDM events that go down in clubs, or on boats, tend to be more laid back. Especially when it comes to drugs, since security makes it tough to get anything inside.

Stop making assumptions people.

People wouldn't make assumptions if you were clear in your first post. All you said was, "EDM show."

You said nothing about it being on a boat, or in a bar. The only thing you said was "21+" which honestly means nothing.

I've done all kinds of shows. I've done warehouse shows, festivals, EDM clubs. If you're going to a show in a club, then maybe you'll have better luck.

Maybe if you read the OP properly. I said 21 plus, mature crowd, and that the acts playing attracted a different crowd than a typical "rave". I even mentioned the pics from the promoters site in the OP. So why would you and a couple others ignore that and talk about half naked people running around on drugs?

This isnt likely to be that kind of place based on the venue and the acts playing. But of course some people will do their drugs before going inside. I mentioned that it wouldnt be a typical rave scene in my OP, yet youre saying I needed to add clarification.

Just read whats written. Clearly you didnt read my OP word for word.

I very clearly read your post. Based on all this, you're not going to an EDM show. You're going to an outdoor venue that plays some beats. Say "EDM show" to anyone that's been to one, and those are the images they get. The ones we all posted.

^Then you should have said that from the beginning. In which case I still believe you didnt really originally read my OP.

With the information I gave, I was seeing who had been to these particular type of EDM events that arent super "rave-y" and arent filled to the gills with under 21ers, slutty gals, and half naked dudes running around.

And based on the acts playing and the people I hear are attending the event, its a legitimate EDM event. Its not just an outdoor venue that will be playing beats. With your apparent experience in the scene, youd know not every event is the same.

So may I ask, whats your experience with these events that are more laid back than a typical drug overloaded, kandi kid, all ages show?

Thats what Im trying to find out from people. Of course Im gonna go enjoy myself, but I do wanna pursue some girls seeing as I havent been doing it as much lately. I figure "why not?"

I have an idea. Why don't you just go and see how much fun you can have without trying to pick up chicks?

If you end up meeting someone in the process, cool. I know when I go to shows, I am there to actually get into the music, and I wouldn't appreciate getting picked up. But that's just me.

I second this.

Not sure what the point is of asking peoples opinions on an event and then arguing with them non stop, telling them their opinion about said event is wrong.

Not a fan of those events and went to a couple when I was a fair bit younger. Unless you want some easy ass, not sure you should bother with the women there... better off just enjoying the music if you're into it.

I feel you.

And the only reason I argued with anyone is because they seemed it ignore information given in my OP about the kinda of event it was.

Just dance your way up to girls whose vibe you're feeling, or look cute to you. I don't know how much of a dancefloor mack you are (it's a specialty of mine ), but just cut loose, have fun, and some female should accept your advance before long. When she shows you with her eyes/body language that she's into you moving closer, do it. Proceed to get freaky.

From there just see how it naturally progresses. If she's backin it up on ya & things are getting heated, you're likely in the clear to make a next move. This will be determined by your own discretion and interpretation of how into it she is. You can be bold and start planting some sensual kisses on her neck... or turn her around and just kind of pull her face near yours, which allows an opportunity for kissing to commence should it make sense, and let's you just keep up the sensual down-getting if not.

Without being a pig, I'd suggest to err on the bolder side when it comes to dance show time. Laying a kiss on a girl you've never met's neck when you're dancing for instance, can feel like a presumptuous/risky move, but more often than not, at that point, she'll be into it. I can already hear certain ladies calling me out on that, but I guarantee they're not the types who attend events like these or would be "freakin" with a stranger in the first place. Ending up with your hands down eachothers pants is not uncommon, I'm tellin ya. Hence the bathroom f*cking stories, etc.

^Trust me, kissing girls on the dance floor at a bar or club isnt foreign to me. I even had one girl try to give me a hand job against the wall of a dance floor, before I told her to chill out. Its just that bars and clubs with top 40 music are a different atmosphere than an EDM show. The mood and music is different.

And since I havent been to many of these things, and havent tried to talk to women much at them either, it feels foreign to me still. Plus, I dance really badly to EDM, even though I enjoy the music. I wish I had some of the moves I see some people on Youtube have.

Hmmm...

Well I'm not seeing what the problem is then. I don't think you should look at there being some big rift between bars, clubs & shows... It's all the same ****. I mean, personally, most of the time I end up at a "club", it's for an electronic show. Like some DJ/producers I dig will be playing sets through the night, there are bars, 1-5 dancefloors... But it's rare I go dance at bars on top 40 night so I don't know.

Either way, I was referring to "EDM" shows above as that's what I typically attend, and what I said still applies. If you're just afraid you don't dance as well to faster tempos, just loosen up, do some drinking, and you'll be fine.

Do what you did to get the girl trying to jerk you off at the top 40 club at this event, should work.

Though it's worth noting that even I, who consider myself a g of a dancer, don't have much fun with house, dubstep or even electro.

Warm up with this, ****'s uptempo and very danceable
