So after browsing match and POF, it's overwhelming clear most women like confident outgoing men. According to one dating coach on youtube they crave men who are leaders. Some other common things I see on the dating sites are "ambitious", "knows what he wants", "healthy", "physically strong", and "loves to travel".

I'm curious to compare and contrast what men want, I wonder if men are mostly the opposite or the same..

So what do you like as guy? What type of women do you want to marry? What type of women sexually turns you on? Are they the same? Different?

Demure? Confident? Leaders? Submissive? Laid back? Quiet? Talkative? Shy? Outgoing? Ambitious? Do you even know..or care? What turns you off or makes you want to run? Be honest.

For me

Hang out or marry:

One thing would be a woman who is too pushy or hyper turns me off. I see a lot of men complaining that women talk TOO MUCH. I tend to like women who are more laid back but appreciate a good sense of humor like anyone else. Shy is not a turn off, but when in a relationship I want to know what they REALLY think instead of a bunch of polite hints that go over my head. At the same time I don't want to receive a nag fest. I'm not really sure "confidence" is really so much of a factor. Ambition has never been something I looked for..but that might change now that I'm paying enormous alimony...ugh...

As far as what turns me on, the softer coy alluring thing is definitely more of a turn on than the aggressive type. But confidence..hmmm...women can be confidently coy and sexy if that makes any sense. I think models do it all the time. I guess, it's about the playful tease :)

I think this really depends on the guy.

Of course it does :) as with the woman as well. But I'm willing to bet there's a trend. There certainly is with women.

So what do you like as guy?
Bubbly, creative, smart, witty

What type of women do you want to marry?
A girl that has the above, plus animal sex appeal

What type of women sexually turns you on?
Women that are open with their sexuality, know what they want and make it known

Are they the same? Different?
Some girls have the sex appeal but nothing else, so I cannot see myself dating them long term.

Demure?
Not so much demure but highly feminine and girly

Confident?
Yes.

Leaders?
Yes.

Submissive?
Someone who lets me be a man when I need to be a man. Sexually or otherwise.

Laid back?
Yes.

Quiet?
No

Talkative?
Yes.

Shy?
No.

Outgoing?
No too much. I'm more introvert than extrovert.

Ambitious?
Yes.

Do you even know..or care?
Of course. Personality counts for more than looks.

What turns you off or makes you want to run? Be honest.

A wreckless lifestyle. Casual approach to unprotected sex, drug use, constant drinking and partying.

So you would like a woman who is interesting enough but doesn't give you too much trouble and conveniently tells you what's going on in the relationship so that you don't have to do any work? Hm, okay

Wow. Hello stranger. Can we stay on topic?

I have a weakness for intellectual types. Honest intellectual types. Not closed minded women who happen to be smart.

I like complex women. Women who are passionate but exacting and analytical. Who are creative but also intellectual and curious. Who are nurturing but also challenging and feisty.

Am I asking for a lot?

Well all guys are different - I don't really notice much of a pattern.

For me hmm....

 • Funny, good sense of humour
 • Bubbly, outgoing
 • a good heart
 • Bold
 • Feisty but cool under fire
 • Positive, an optimist
 • A go getter - knows what she wants and makes it happen
 • Confident
 • I don't mind a girl who's just a little cocky - not in a stuck up way thou in a playful way
 • grounded, down to earth
 • A good sense of adveture
 • generous
 • Up for a laugh, doesn't take herself to seriously
 • Outdoorsy or sporty
 • not clingy

Is that a long enough list?:o I'm not actually that picky I just like a girl to be genuine - i don't want to date a cardboard cut out - I want someone who'll pull me up on my sh*t, makes mistakes every once in a while, talks straight from the heart, who's not afraid to show the real her

 • Clingyness - i couldn't be with some one who doesn't trust me or is too possessive, im claustrophobic in all aspects of life
 • Weakness - in the sense that i don't live in the middle ages i don't want a girl who is too submissive or just goes along with me when im way in the wrong
 • Selfishness - id give my last penny away, i need to be with a girl who stands on the same page as me
 • Negative - negative people bring you down
 • too serious - a sense of humour so crucial to me
 • Having a problem with getting dirty

I think for both men and women-

For any personality trait that has a negative and a positive side to it, we want to be with someone who is neither extreme and will complement and challenge our position on the spectrum.

For example "confident" is brought up a lot- nobody really wants a person who is too aggressive, nobody really wants a doormat.

Sexual- nobody wants a frigid prude, nobody wants a whore.

Where we are on the spectrum is usually where we want our counterpart to be- either similar or complementary.

So a guy who can be a tiny bit aggressive might preference a girl who is a bit the opposite- unless it is a problem for him, then he might want a girl who is also a bit aggressive in order to challenge his aggressiveness. We all want to be the best we can be (aside from sociopaths) and look for people in our lives who will help us be just that.

So-- the only way to really know what you want, and why you want it- is to really know yourself

There is nothing like a submissive woman to sooth the savage in a man. I like a woman who isn't afraid to experiment. I can't tell you how excited I am when she says yes to things most women would hesitate to try.

Agree, everyone wants something different.

Empathetic, compassionate, self-awareness, and openness are high on my list. Arrogance is the biggest turn-off.
