Recently broke up with girlfriend after being together for 9 years. We were together since she was 18 years old and this is our first break up. Main reason was that I hadn't proposed to her during that period. I would love to get back together with her and propose to her now that I have the money to buy a decent ring :) but she tells me that she has moved on and is moving out of State in 6 months. What are the chances of getting back together. Not sure whether its worth fighting for anymore. She tends to give me mixed signals when I talk to her. Please advise....Thanks!!:)

I'm sorry, where again is the mixed signal? She said she has moved on and is moving out of state. Seems pretty solid to me.

In answer to your other post regarding buying the ring- HELLS NO!!!!

Funny, I was with MY ex for around eight years, in which time I had no money to buy a ring and propose.

Oh MAN did I ever get her annoyed because "I'm ONLY your girlfriend..."

I heard that line CONSTANTLY.

Well guess what, my good man, FINALLYA had enough to buy a GORGEOUS ring last year.

Proposed to her in March (the way she wanted the princess treatment)

She dumped me in May.

Lesson learned.

You have bettered yourself to the best of your ability, became the "Man" she wanted you to become, and now shes gone.

Drop her and walk the F away buddy. Lots of better women in the world.

Just curious... Did you ask for/get your ring back? I was a total puss and let my ex keep hers. Now it's too late to get it back  Wasn't too expensive though so not much money wasted...

Lol funny you should ask.

I had her keep it, even though she offered it back. The romantic, heartbroken "puss" that I was, I told her that this was only ever meant to be worn on her finger, and that if that wasn't going to happen she could do as she pleased with it.

Hindsight, always being 20/20 I should have taken it back. She probably just cashed it in for some lavish vacation for her and her new strange anyway.

I would not have kept it, as I felt it was "tainted" anyway.

Live and learn I guess.

Same exact story here

Can't imagine the small amount of cash it would bring would be worth much... Don't know why else she would want it though  Who knows??

Hahahaha oh man, we just have to look back and laugh at ourselves. What sappy, romantic, mushy idiots we are at times.

I'll never make THAT mistake again

So, you're done with that route? I am scared that she may have crushed my heart too much to try it again as well. I hope not though. I try to remain positive that I will find someone who would be ecstatic to be married to me... Although, right now, I won't let myself get close either. Hopefully I will open up again in the future :D

At this juncture in my life I'd have to say yes. I was married before and I think at my age (46) i'm kinda done.

I enjoy living alone and can have the gf come over whenever. But I like the independence. But hey, ya never know.
