MrTurk Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) My last relationship was with my ex-wfie. I met her at a cookout at a relatives house....she was a friend of a friend. A few of us were sitting around the table and the convo was about going to amusement parks. She said how she loves roller coasters, but hadnt gone in a long time. I said the same, and asked if she'd like to go with me sometime...that was our first date. Where and how did you met your current or recent significant other? Who approached who, was it a cold approach out of the blue? Were they a friend of a friend? Did you already know them? Edited August 19, 2013 by MrTurk
UpwardForward Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I was living alone in an apt, so took an extra nite job w same employer to make ends meet. One of my co-workers on my second job kept sharing things about me w her boyfriend (a) and his friend (b). Co-worker actually wanted her boyfriend's friend (b) so she was hesitant to introduce us. But friend (b) kept prodding her. When I met him, I knew he was the one. We only knew each other for 3 mos before we were married. About 32 yrs later (or 10 yrs after our divorce) (a) was just divorcing another and called me. We then talked for about 8 yrs until he remarried. As The World Turns
miss_jaclynrae Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 It is a pretty awesome story. I just happened to go to Starbucks to read for the night, and he was two people ahead of me in line. I swear, as soon as I laid eyes on him there was this undeniable NEED to know him. I was drawn to him and the connection was there before we even talked. He ordered a coffee, I ordered a coffee, we did the meet cute where we both went for the sugar. Haha, we didn't say a word to one another, yet the chemistry was overwhelming! Then I went outside to read, and he went outside to... well... build up the courage to talk to me. I think it was about 40 minutes of him walking by me countless times. (I noticed, but to save face I pretended I was oblivious). The best part I think, was when he literally LEFT. That is right, he left, and as soon as he did all I could think about was how I wish I had talked to him. I then contemplated posting on craigslist under missed connections. It was then that bum-da-bu-bum!!!! He returned! He literally went home and came back just to see if I was still there. It may have taken a bit, but he did it, he finally came up to me, asked whether I was waiting for someone, and when I said no, word for word said "So, we should get coffee sometime." The rest is pretty much history!!! Posted from my facebook. Best day of my life. We were just two strangers, who happened to be at the right place at the right time. 2
Simon Phoenix Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I met my last ex a few years before I actually dated her at her older sister's wedding, as her sister was getting married to one of my best friends from college. We got along and there was a bit of chemistry and I made an off-color joke to her sister about that chemistry after the fact, but we lived in different parts of the country and were in different stages of our lives (she was in college in the Southeast, I was working out West). She ended up moving out West for a job about an hour from me. I then moved about 10 minutes away from her due to a new job. She texted me out of the clear blue sky about a month after I moved wanting to get a drink. I met her and we became pretty inseparable pretty quickly, at least until things went south.
Silly_Girl Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 We met on Match.com, I hadn't thought being on there would lead to anything serious.
man_in_the_box Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Student organization. We worked together for a year before anything happened. Then she got drunk and admitted wanting more, lol not very romantic I guess...

Did you already know them? i met my last significant other on the doorstep of a club i used to go to dance and listen to music .....he was a bouncer.....i didnt really like him at first.....i thought he was into steroids he was a pretty massive guy and he hardly ever spoke he was a quiet guy.................he did however one day help me out of a really bad situation where it could have been ugly and i became his friend I started talking to him, found out he volunteered at an organisation where severely disabled kids were looked after...i did similar volunteer work with abused teens and i have always hung out with similar people...its a passion i have had since i was a girl...and so i looked deeper at the man and not his build......which honestly was intimidating for me............deb
salparadise Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Most recent relationship, POF. She messaged first and cut the chit chat short by suggesting we meet. Dated 6 months. Relationship before that, OKC. She messaged first, we talked on the phone, a few days later I rode a motorcycle half way up the east coast to meet her. First date lasted 6 days, relationship lasted a year and a half. Next one will have to be IRL because I just learned on here that OLD doesn't work.
MidwestUSA Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Fàcebook, LOL! And you still won't find me here saying positive things about FB!
hppr Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 A party at a friend's house. I got really drunk and when he and his wife introduced me to her and some of her coworkers I made a really offensive comment that pissed em all off. Later on I saw her outside so I went and apologized and sort of asked her out.
whirl3daway Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 My last ex, I met at work. He was and still is my coworker. I highly suggest learning from my mistake - DON'T DATE YOUR COWORKERS! My boyfriend... who is absolutely wonderful, and quite possibly my soulmate (not in the lame way), I met on OKC. We had a very high match percentage, and when we met, it was instant connection. We have a LOT in common. Same musical tastes, food habits, movie taste. We both highly value intelligence and learning. We can sit and talk for hours. It's pretty magical so far.
Emilia Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 And that night we made it official again.... Since then she has changed, grown and matured... and has long been over her ex. We've hit rough patches like all couples but we've worked through them. And now we've been engaged for three months, and will be married next year. A very cool story. Completely against LS guidelines 1
mrs rubble Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I met my fiance 20 months ago at a nudist club! We were both completely nude apart from sunhats. I was with another man who I'd been seeing casually for a year or so, he had failed to introduce me to any of his family or friends or commit to any sort of relationship. He was a really lovely guy though and we got on really well. We had visited one nudist club and really enjoyed the atmospere and surroundings, so decided to visit another. The next club was even better and there were more members closer to our age. So we joined and decided to rent a cabin and stay for the weekend. We had an awesome time meeting new people. However I went outside to have a cigarette with my (now) fiance (as a couple of us were having drinks in the cabin) came back inside to find the man I came with on top of another woman!! I was pretty peeved. My (now) fiance saw I was pretty upset and consolled me. Before we left my (now) fiance asked for our phone numbers, he called me the next day to chat. We began to meet at the club regularly and talked about anything and everything. We both really quickly realized that we hit it off in a very special way. So I had to tell the man I was seeing that It was over. We were engaged 5 months later. I've never, ever been happier. He is my soulmate. 1

The rest is pretty much history!!! Posted from my facebook. Best day of my life. We were just two strangers, who happened to be at the right place at the right time. I love these "pure chance" stories...not only because of the one in a billion chance (if he never came back you most likely would have never seen him again) but also because it reminds me of my story. I knew my wife in high school, had a major crush on her, but we barely spoke, only meeting by completely random chance in the halls maybe 3 or 4 times. Fast forward 4 years later...I never forgot the girl but never thought I'd run into her again. Well, as luck would have it, my best friend ran into her at a local gym (but during the early afternoon which I NEVER went to the gym). Of course, he didn't know her but only knew what she looked like so he didn't go up and talk to her or anything, but he told me he saw her there. So, I took the chance and went to the gym the next day at the same time he said he saw her. I pretty much figured that the odds of her being at the gym, the next day, at the same time...no way in hell I'd see her. I mean, it could have been a one off for her...maybe she was just checking out the gym and decided to go somewhere else, etc. I mean, I never saw her there once and I was one of the regulars. As luck would have it...after working out for 20 minutes, she walked in. My heart skipped a beat when I saw her. I walked up to her and her eyes just lit up. I could tell she was excited to see me again. I found out later that she also had a major crush on me but also thought she'd never see me again after I graduated (I was two years older than her). That was 17 years ago. We just celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary two days ago...and she is the woman that I'm constantly raving about on here. And to think...if I never took that chance...I wouldn't be where I am today. What's even crazier...and I know this will sound bad...but I had a gf (of four years) when I decided to try and see her at the gym. But something compelled me...I just HAD to see her...even in the completely off chance that she would even be at the gym. I had no idea what I would even do if I saw her and I definitely wasn't planning on any kind of infidelity. I know people don't believe in fate or some mystical power, but man...when I think about how many things I did differently than I normally would do that fateful day and night...I can't help but think someone else was controlling my actions. 2
white Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Neighbour in an apartment block, my age, 24, hers 25. Saw each other come and go. Invited me for coffee a fortnight after I moved in. Pitched her interest straight at me like she was offering biscuits. Took me a minute to warm up and I wasn't sure about her for couple months. We grew on each other though. Lasted 2 and a half years, almost married.
