femme Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 What's up with that? I sit at work, freezing my butt off...but at the same time, I'm sweating. I've been loading up on deo, body sprays, perfumes, etc. 'cuz I'm worried I'd smell. Weird thing is, it happens mostly in winter. It feels so gross when you're wearing a sweater, and you start sweating. Trust me, it's not cuz I'm hot...I still feel very cold. Another thing is sometimes one of my hands is hot and the other is cold. Yesterday, I realized 2 of my fingers of my left hand were cold, while the rest of my hand was normal temperature. My body is messed up, I swear! Does that happen to anyone else? Should I see a doctor? Any thoughts?
tiki Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 See a doctor, you could have circulation problems.
sophia34 Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 I agree that seeing a doctor would be a good idea. My only other thought was more practical--I don't know your age, femme, but if you're over 35, it could also be a symptom of perimenopause? (Not that I want to bring up THAT word!). I'm at the big 3-5 right now, and I'm just waiting.... But if you're under 35, that's less likely. Only a doctor would know for sure (or several doctors--it sometimes takes more than one to get a diagnosis)
tiki Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Good point. Have the docs check your hormones by doing bloodwork. The finger sounds like a definite circulation problem though.
tattoomytoe Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 i get cold sweats a lot in the winter too. I think it's cause the trunks of our bodies are warnmer than the extremities, plus in the winter you are wearing thick warm clothes, that do not "breath" well, mainly on the trunk, and sitting in a chair that more than likely traps heat. And...hands that type all day, propped up-making circulation harder, with no warm clothes do get cold. Also there is a nerve that runs practically under your elbow, so if you lean on your elbows a lot it can irritate that nerve and cause your pinky and outer fingers to go numb, tingle, and be cold. but hormones too.
Author femme Posted November 9, 2004 Author Posted November 9, 2004 Thanks for your suggestions guys. I'll go see a doctor just to be sure. Sophia, I'm 25. I hope to God it's not menopause... just yet. ;-) tattoomytoe, that just about covers it all. Thanks so much!
tiki Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Nope, not unless you're severely unbalanaced. Doesn't sounds like peri if she's 25.
