I fell in love with my boss some time ago, however I get the distinct impression that she doesn't want anything to do with me. I know this sound stupid but i can't get her out of my mind and up to last March we were getting on really well.

I also know that I 'm going to sound like a complete bastard, as I'm already in a relationship but it has been cold for many years. We are not married although we have lived together for twenty something years and we have a son.

My feeling for my boss are further complicated in that she has recently divorced and she has two kids both of university age. I feel very protective of my boss even though she has tried in recent months to keep me at arms length. I sometimes think she is being nice to not hurt my feelings I can't help the feeling I have for her.

I try desperately to find reasons to talk to my boss, but I have heard her making adverse comments about me to others. I wish that she would want a relationship with me, more than a professional one, but I don't know.

What should I do, I don't love my present partner any more, but I do love my boss even though I think the feeling is not mutual.

Help.

Break up with your current gf and find someone else.

Don't try to date your boss. That's beyond stupid.

Breaking up with your long-time girlfriend is a very heavy decision. OP, you've been with her for a very long time. Can you explain what has happened between you exactly?

Also, dating your boss is unethical, since you need to be with some kind of distance with her, as an employee.

That's a good point. Fair enough.

I wasn't even thinking it terms of ethics. Dating your boss is stupid because if that sours, you will most likely have to deal with a lot of bs and will lose your job.

Better off not sh*tting where you eat.

I have heard her making adverse comments about me to others.

This would be enough for me to douse the flames of desire.
