coffeeloverx Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 I need some advice, my mom went out a few nights ago and met this guy who was around my age (I'm 20 and he was like 24 or 25.) So, she gave my number and he's going to call me tomorrow. I don't know, I feel awkward about this situation. Any advice?
white Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Awesome. I mean I don't even want to know how that conversation went down, "Hey you're in your twenties and have a penis right? I have a daughter I'd like you to call" "Hey stud you're cute, want to date my daughter" "OK so my daughter is terrible at meeting men so please call her and make her feel better" "Wow if I was only 20 years younger, lucky for you I know someone with half my genes" et cetera But it's done and you have a number and your mum is rooting for you. Your mum is a wingman doing you a solid here. It's more wholesome than OLD. Take a shot. Maybe it works out and you have the best "how we met" story ever.
HokeyReligions Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Be honest with him. Laugh about how awkward you feel. He probably feels the same. 1
BradJacobs Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 A few years ago my next door neighbor's dad and uncle were out at a pub. Their server was going on and on about the men she usually dates. So they put him in touch with her. They married about six months ago. It can have a happy ending. Don't get too worked up in how you were introduced. 2
ThomasD Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Be honest with him. Laugh about how awkward you feel. He probably feels the same. That sounds like reasonable, down to earth advice. Hey, my wife's aunt introduced us and we've been married almost 39 years! OK, her aunt knew us both rather well before she arranged our meeting, while your mom just met this guy as a casual acquaintance, so probably not a valid comparison, but it's no worse than if YOU happened to be out someplace and happened across the guy. If I let my mind wander in mischievous directions . . . I think BOTH you AND your mom should meet him for a date.
Lani Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 My mother gave me phone number to my nieces autism program therapist when she was babysitting one time.. He never called, and never did her therapy again... A coincidence? I'm not sure. So don't sweat it, you may not even have to deal with it!
Author coffeeloverx Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 Thanks guys, the only reason I ask is because my mom went out dancing or something and this guy tried to pick HER up but she has a boyfriend so she set him up with me? I might just go get coffee with him and leave it at that. I'm really not interested in anything right now.

Hell, says every woman of every age when presented with people they don't want to date. Have you even seen a picture of him?
Amethystic Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 My mom has done this to me a couple of times. I finally had to tell her, "please talk to me first before you give my number to a guy, kthx."
