UmbrellaBoy Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 I'm in a strange place. My boyfriend (it's always been tumultuous) expressed his intentions to break up about a month ago. Not unexpected, but I was still devastated, I tried so hard to make it work. He did agree to hold off until we had one last visit (it was long distance). I visited him last week. It was a strange and bittersweet visit. In many ways, we made more "progress" than we ever had. For example, after 3.5 years of being "involved" (the "official" relationship being much more recent, however) we finally had sex three times during the last 36 hours of the trip. It was my first time EVER with anyone. He was prickly and reluctant but let me go ahead with it. After doing it, it seemed like we got closer, and we had many sweet and wonderful moments on this trip finally being romantic the way I had always imagined. But, in spite of that, and in spite of some discussions in which it felt like there were "breakthroughs" in terms of understanding our dynamic, it didn't change anything. He was still adamant that this wasn't what he wanted. He promised to process and digest the events of the past few days, but we still ended things officially and went into No Contact. It's just very odd for things to end so suddenly (if as planned) after things actually going farther than they've ever gone...
